How is Your Prayer Life—R Fritz

A couple of days ago I heard the Holy Spirit say to me “Thy will be done.” The Holy Spirit was not talking about my will. It was talking about what’s called “the Lord’s Prayer.” Luke 11:2-4 says, and this is Jesus teaching his disciples to pray and speaking “And he said unto them, When you pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth. Give us day-to-day our daily bread. And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive everyone that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.” It is also located in Matthew 6:9-13 and the added part in verse 13 says “For thine is the kingdom and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.  This was an example and Jesus teaching his disciples how to pray.

We are not supposed to use vain repetitions, and thinking the more words I speak the better. Mathew 6:7 says and this Jesus speaking “But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. This gives us a framework on how we should pray and what we should not do. Jesus is saying in this prayer he wants the kingdom in heaven to come to earth and the Father’s will also to be on earth. He also talks about our daily needs and forgiving our sins. We need to ask for deliverance from temptation and evil. These are things on your heart with Jesus reading your heart and knowing exactly what you want and need. There is no secret about anything.

Our prayer language and our spiritual life are tied together. What I am saying is our spiritual life is our ability to communicate to the Holy Spirit and without that relationship, we do not have a spirit to spirit, relationship. That is our prayer language. Romans 8:26-27 says “Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.”  The Holy Spirit helps our weaknesses whether physical or mental and helps us according to the will of God. The will of God is God doing what is best for us, sometimes we might not see that. That is why looking at what we see spiritually is important.  You now see why the Holy Spirit is important with praying because when we forget or do not see the issues we have, the “Spirit” knows exactly what is going on with us and knows how to fix us and the timing that it should happen. When the Spirit asks you to deal with a certain issue, it is time to work on it.

Our belief and trust in Jesus Christ give us the confidence to pray to believe that our prayer will be answered. The truth is if we do not believe that our prayer will be answered, why are we doing it. I am trying to change your belief level. You have to have hope. That comes from hearing another believer or reading about what Jesus did on earth as well as his disciples. It also comes from the Holy Spirit talking to you. 1 Thessalonians 5:17-18 says “Pray without ceasing. In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” To pray without ceasing is not necessarily praying without stopping. It is having prayer on your mind and communicating with the Holy Spirit because you have given your will up for the Spirit and you to become one Spirit.

It is praying repeatedly and often. It is the understanding we cannot do it ourselves and knowing our God can do it. It is the revelation that we depend on our Lord and Savior for everything we got. We can pray no matter what we are doing, it is knowing we can connect spiritually with God anywhere we are, at work, in a store, outside. It is your spirit talking to God and nobody can stop you because they do not know you are praying. I am a Chaplain and used to pray at work when I was walking around all the time. Because of my praying, I saw people and their lives changed.

It is getting an answer from God and believing in it and completing it no matter what happens. It is not doing what we always have done and expecting the right result. God knows best, we need to listen and do exactly as he tells us. This is communication with God. This is also being obedient. It can be thanking God for all he has done for you even the little things. Sometimes I thank God for the stoplights turning green when I am in a hurry. It can be as simple as the weather turning sunny so I can do things outside. We always have something to be thankful for and to let God know how we feel.

This is loving God, believing, trusting, and communicating with him, and getting that relationship with him that we want where he speaks to us when he needs to. This is the faith we need to move us into overcoming our issues or past. Hebrews 11:6-7 says “But without faith, it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh

to God must believe that he is and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. By faith Noah being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.” Our faith in Jesus Christ is what moves us. Knowing his nature and knowing his righteousness gives us trust in him. We should know he only wants what is best for us. Our relationship with Jesus will show if you love him with our actions showing Jesus our faith in him. God Bless.
