Who We Believe in Changes our Lives—R Fritz

Everybody believes in somebody and something. As a child, we believed in our parents until we thought we knew more. Then we believed in ourselves, believing we knew what we needed to do. Some people did very well on their own, the question that needs to be asked is are we really on our own or does somebody come along with the wisdom that helps us. Everybody is in a different situation because we are all different. The thing we can do is watch somebody and pick the things that will work for us. We start using the wisdom that we gained to make a living, or we worked for somebody else. We get married and have a spouse where we have to work together for the same goal. The problem is we come with baggage or unknown issues or issues that pop up whether mental or physical.

This is when our wisdom is not good enough. We try to find experts to help us but even they cannot overcome our issues. We do the best we can do but at some point, the issues start to change our family relationship and we begin to lose our belief in our spouse. Somebody hears or sees what is going on and happening in our life. He knows us and he knows who we will become. It is us believing in the only living God. Jeremiah 29:11 says “For I know the thoughts that I think towards you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken (listen) unto you. And ye shall seek me, and find me when ye shall search for me with all your heart.”  Searching with “all” our hearts gives us a way to seek God and find God. This is how our relationship with the Holy Spirit goes to a new level and our prayers are answered because we are in alignment with the character of God and follow his Word. The Holy Spirit is our teacher, and we need to be good students. Our heart is what God sees and knows whether we are serious about knowing him.

What are our expectations of God? Do we expect God to answer our prayers, if not why are we praying? We need to find a way for God to hear our prayers and answer us. We only listen to the people around us who may not have a relationship with God or do not know how to gain the relationship, so our prayers are answered. We should be searching for somebody who has our answers. Truth is searching for somebody we can trust until we find our God.

Is this the answer we are looking for or are we looking for another person and not God? God is somebody that knows us and judges our hearts and our motives. We just need to trust and believe in somebody we do not see and do not know. That is us wanting to change our situation. It is us having to change for our family. It is us asking in prayer. It is our opportunity to have a relationship with that living God. God will not leave us or forsake us. When you read about God, you learn who he is and his character. He does not lie, and his wisdom is endless.

Who we believe in is our choice, we have made choices by who we believed in at that time. When we have decided to be all in with God is when our life will change completely. Our belief level changes when we start to act because belief is not just a thought, it is our thoughts becoming part of us as well as actions, sometimes changing what we use to believe. Our change becomes cemented in our thoughts because the Holy Spirit reminds us what is important when we surrender our will each day. When I say surrender our will, that might scare some people in that we think we will not have a say in our actions. That is far from the truth. The Holy Spirit becomes part of us with our thoughts blended with our personality and God’s nature.

We are now becoming the person God has meant for us to be. The one he knew before we were born. Psalms 139:1-4, 13-15,17 says “O Lord, thou hast searched me, and known me. Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off. Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways. For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O Lord, thou knowest it altogether. For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made marvelous are thy works; and my soul knoweth right well. My substance was not hidden from thee, when I was made in secret, curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! How great is the sum of them.” God has known us from the beginning, the words we are going to speak before they come out of our mouths.

If we believe in God, we believe in love. When we learn how God’s love and mercy are applied in situations, we have control over what we learn and change. If we do not know God’s love, we revert back to what we know as man’s love depending on how we were treated. Matthew 22:37-40 and Jesus said unto him, “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all your heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like, unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.”

Our God knows everything about each of us which is amazing. Who we believe in has changed over time and our circumstances changed who we asked to help us attain what we personally want out of life. It comes down to each of us having a relationship with Jesus Christ through the Holy Spirit. This is the most important choice for our belief in God and becoming one in the Holy Spirit. The truth sets us free. God Bless.
