Communication Changes what We can do with God and the People Around Us—R Fritz
How we decide to communicate with God makes a difference in how we talk to other people. God and Adam communicated with each other until sin took care of the relationship. Adam knew where his boundaries were but still allowed Eve to sin and was part of it. We also know what God has for our boundaries because we have the Holy Spirit. That relationship has to be grown through our communication, in this case, it is a conversation with God, prayer language, or our actions. God started communication, yet we do not go to him to find out how we should communicate to other people, the God that knows everything. We go to men who are considered experts by men. We go to men because it is easier than trying to start and learn to communicate with the true expert, God. If we learn to communicate with God, we will have our questions answered. 2 Chronicles 7:14 says “If my people, which are called by name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” If we want to hear from God, we need to change our disposition, pray, and turn from our old ways, God will let us know and forgive us and bless us. This is a promise if we follow God and follow this blueprint.
When I first chose Jesus, I asked a lot of questions and at one time my questions were answered first as I was asking them then they were answered before I even got any words out of my mouth. I was also told the Holy Spirit would teach me. God is looking for committed people and will keep looking for those that are committed. God is not going to force somebody to do anything against our will. If we are not ready to commit, God will give us an opportunity to show we are ready for change at a different time, that does not mean God has given up on us, it means we still have to choose to change even more.
There are a number of ways to communicate. Speaking is the first with our actions showing what we believe, our facial expressions or body language or sign language or writing on paper or computer. God looks at how we treat people or the respect we show or the words we speak to others that are expressions of love and communicating that expression. We can also communicate our dislike through our expressions. Ephesians 4:29 says “Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it
may minister grace unto the hearers.” Our words should minister to everybody’s spirit. That is the Holy Spirit speaking through somebody for us to hear a message. Most people do not understand that God can use anybody or anything to change situations or give somebody a different perspective on life. He uses those that surrender their will and obey without question, people sold out to Jesus. People that love God more than anything and put God first. The words that are spoken come out of our mouth, but they are words that are phrased and spoken in complete love to give somebody perspective more than we could do with our own words.
These words spoken to me were given to me by the Holy Spirit as I was talking to somebody else two days before about how we have to treat people with love and respect communicating through a conversation of asking somebody questions like, “why do you feel that way.” What I did not know was after the Holy Spirit gave me the words, I would be giving them to somebody else the next day. The same words about love that came out of my mouth caused this person to get angry and attack me with questions and words to intimidate me. This was the Holy Spirit using me to show the spiritual issue or issues this person has to deal with. The Holy Spirit knows all and the words that will give people the opportunity to know how to change. Sometimes we do not know the mental pain and anguish people go through in their life because of their past. It is our opportunity to help the Holy Spirit in whatever role we are asked to do when we gave our life to Jesus Christ.
1 Corinthians 2:9-10,12-13 says “But as it is written, Eye hath not see, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, comparing spiritual things with spiritual.” The Holy Spirit can change any situation and sometimes the Holy Spirit needs us to help. Whether we disagree with somebody it requires us to communicate with them through showing love, common courtesy, and respect to understand why people act the way they do. Love and kindness are what everybody is looking for and if we show that we care for them it gives them a reason to listen to us and want to look at the other side of any issue or anything God wants to show.
It is the communication of love that will change hearts and gives us the ability in conversation or show through our actions that we truly care. This is how Jesus changed situations, he did not take away our will, he wanted us to choose to love him. We also have that same choice to show that love to change somebody else, but it starts with love. God Bless.
