Blessed Are the Merciful for They Shall Obtain Mercy—R Fritz

This is Matthew 5:7 and Jesus speaking to his disciples. Mercy is compassion and kindness. We are supposed to show compassion then we will receive compassion. Mercy is holding back a judgment. Mercy is about treating people not necessarily deserving of a second chance and showing them that they do deserve a second chance and can make something out of life with some help. It is you believing in somebody and them believing in themselves.

The merciful are the people who are following Jesus Christ and judging themselves and finding mistakes and learning from their mistakes. They are the people who remember where they come from and know they were sinners, but Jesus Christ washed them and made them clean. 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 says “Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with humankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.” We all came with history when we came with a knowledge of Jesus Christ. We should remember our past, who we were then, and remember where we came from so, we are not judging other people who came from the same sins as us. It is that knowledge coming from the Holy Spirit and teaching us about God’s love, grace, and mercy.

Our mercy comes from knowing Jesus Christ and believing in him and his character and being able to change our character to be just like Jesus. We have to be able to change when we find out that our character does not line up with God. It is letting the Holy Spirit show us the way to freedom away from our old ways and getting closer to God. Every day requires us to change. A closer relationship gets us to God’s purpose for us. God has a purpose for each one of us. We will never know what our true purpose is if we do not get that relationship with the Holy Spirit where we become one.

We do not know our enemy Satan and his schemes, lies, and the use of fear that change our outlook on life and could actually shorten our life or take our life. Satan affects every decision we make unless we know him, his nature, and his characteristics. 2 Corinthians 11:14 says “For such are false apostles, deceitful

workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.” Satan wants to be just like God, but he is a counterfeit and the counterfeit angel of light. Satan means “adversary” in Hebrew. Satan is not our friend. Satan can come or appear as an angel of light, but he is the angel of darkness. If we do not know him and what his goals are we will be fooled by the things we see or thoughts, we have or other people who communicate what they believe are true. Satan wants to destroy us because God loves us. Satan will do everything to change our direction moving us away from God and down a rabbit hole or getting us to believe we are serving God through other means in tasks we think are important.

Only with discernment, studying God’s word, and getting close to God through the Holy Spirit do we see the situations we go through and how we know if it is God or the imposter (Satan). God’s Word is our weapon to defeat Satan. We should study God’s word but when in need and in battle with Satan the Holy Spirit will give you the words or verses to overcome Satan. This comes with trusting God through the Holy Spirit and when you see how listening to the Holy Spirit gives the wisdom, we need to add to our trust level.

The trust of God takes care of fear that wants to stop us in our tracks. This is a trick Satan uses to get us to worry about something that we think might happen. In reality, our fear (worry) does not happen, and we are obstructed from the issues we really need to tackle. Fear is the lie of looking into our or somebody else’s future. We should be taking the situation we are worrying about in prayer to God and finding out God’s plan and God’s answer. Psalm 34:4 says, “I sought the Lord, and he heard me and delivered me from all my fears.” This verse should give the answer and peace not to worry or let fear drive our life.

We think we are smart enough to know Satan’s tricks and the truth which is sometimes true other times only the Holy Spirit will give us the truth because it can only be seen spiritually. Remember we make decisions on what we consider the truth. Satan is a liar. John 8:44 says and Jesus, speaking “Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode (resides) not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar and the father of it.” Satan is our enemy, and we need to be careful what we hear and then take it

to God to hear the truth or discerning with God’s wisdom.

Mercy applied is also when God heals those with disease. God heals those with disease even those whose disease was because of things we brought on ourselves. God also gives mercy when we deserve punishment, but none is given. Mercy is God’s to give, and it is his to apply. It is not automatic it is similar to grace. God wants us to use mercy just as he would.

Mercy is to be applied to people because Satan fools people. Sometimes people want to believe things we hear without asking God or the Holy Spirit. When we believe something that is a lie, we also then live a lie. God gives mercy even though we should know better, or we should be asking God and do not then we do things the way we think they should be done.

Jesus Christ died for our sins. The mercy was we did not have to die as punishment. We need to show that same mercy to those that have done things to us and believe they deserve our punishment. It is now time for us to give out that same mercy God has given to us. God Bless.
