On a Special day for Fathers, We need to look at Our Father in Heaven—R Fritz
Our Father in heaven has all the answers we just need to ask God. Answers on our mental health or our physical health or our children or our job. We might disagree with what I just wrote because we have made all the decisions in our lives. We cannot change what has happened but if we would have asked God would the outcome in our life have been different. We might not ever find out or maybe God might show us. The result cannot be changed but our present and future results can be what God has meant for us if we change from our past of doing what our mind and heart believe and giving our will to the Holy Spirit and then the results will be God-driven.
Change is what we need to do because we have to admit we were wrong and if we are afraid or refuse, we are letting pride rule in our life. When we refuse to seek God and decide to go through our struggles without asking God for help, we are believing we can and will do a better job than God. We are putting ourselves above God. Proverbs 11:2 says, “When pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly is wisdom.” Humility was what Jesus showed other people because this is God’s nature and character. We need to look at ourselves and judge our actions. Our actions should constantly be examined to check if we are holy and righteous.
If we are to follow the Holy Spirit pride can and will put us against the Holy Spirit. We have to let the Holy Spirit show us what is going on in our life and if pride is controlling us. The Holy Spirit is our teacher and knows exactly what we are doing, there is no hiding anything. We need that relationship that starts with asking the Holy Spirit if there is something in our life that is not right or righteous. The next statement that we give the Holy Spirit is the answer “we are willing to change and do what the Holy Spirit asks us to do.” That tells God where our trust level is and shows us where our trust level is.
Our Father in heaven is always looking out for us. John 3:16 says and this is Jesus, speaking “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” God sent his Son (Jesus) to earth so we would have everlasting life through believing in Jesus. If you believe, our love will also be shown through our actions.
Disobedience has consequences for not obeying our earthly father as well as us
heavenly Father. Proverbs 3:11-12 says, “My son, despise not the chastening (disciplining) of the Lord; Neither be weary of his correction: For whom the Lord loveth he correcteth” When we are doing things that God does not approve, he will let us know. He loves us and wants us to change and wants us to correct our behavior. God knows exactly what is best for us and how to change. That is why our earthly father should know our heavenly Father. God’s wisdom is what men need and that comes from knowing God through our relationship with the Holy Spirit.
The Father’s (God’s) love is the love that changes people, it changes the heart. This is the love we feel when we choose Jesus Christ. It is not the same love we have for our spouse. It is unconditional love, a love that does not see rights or wrongs, it does not see or hear attitudes. This is God’s love, the same love we are responsible to apply in our situations with everybody we talk to or respond to. It is hard to apply in all situations because our emotions and our feelings get hurt. It gets personal so we need to ask the Holy Spirit for forgiveness. We need to teach our family and friends what God’s true love is through our words and then our actions. John 15:9-13 says, and this is Jesus, speaking “As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue in my love. If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments and abide in his love. These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and your joy might be full. This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. Ye are my friends if ye do whatever I command you.” We need to keep the Father’s commandments then we abide in his love and Jesus’s commandment “That ye love one another, as I have loved you.” When we follow Jesus and do his commandments, we become friends with Jesus with a greater relationship.
If we want to have that relationship with Jesus, we have just got the answer to how to get it. By getting that relationship we get Jesus’s love. A love beyond what we have known that comes with a decision and then living that life every day through our actions with our will being one with the Holy Spirit. We cannot do it ourselves. We all have a history of trying to do life our way. We all knew something was missing in our life, we did not know what it was. How long before we will understand even though we know who Jesus is, we do not really “know” Jesus
because we have not given our whole self to him just a part or parts of us.
The truth is we do not trust God enough to hand over our whole life to God. It is fear that stops us, trust will beat fear every time. I will tell you when you overcome fear with trust, we will have that relationship and the Holy Spirit will finish our sentences and remind us, so we do not forget things that we need to do. I say that because that happens to me every day.
Fathers are supposed to be the leaders of our families. Our Father in Heaven and the Bible will show us how to live, love, and lead our families. Now is the time to act like our Father in Heaven. We need to know the Father through the Holy Spirit. Study the Bible and live a God-given life. God Bless.
