Life Makes us Who we are, we Should Never Stop Learning—R Fritz
Where we start as a child in life and where we end up as an adult should be different. Our thoughts on everything we have done have changed from thinking about ourselves to thinking about others, at least it should have. Our life as a child formed us to start with the good or bad but that is not the end of who we are. It was the things that happened to us during life that form us and they still can change our outcome. To most people, it is the inability to change that rut we get into that becomes our life with no path out. When we have had enough is when we are ready for change. It was us doing what we want when we want that puts us on the path from the life of sin and death to have the true life of liberty with God being in control.
We can change us or we can let Jesus Christ change us, it is always our choice. Before we knew Jesus Christ our knowledge controlled what we did with our knowledge gained through our experiences or with the knowledge we read or found. We were doing the best we could with what we had. We did not know that we were being led through the whispering of Satan that put us exactly where we were. We did not know God or what he stood for. There was no reason to give our lives to God if everything was going along great. We would think we do not need God. Matthew 13:22 says and this is Jesus, speaking “He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.” This is part of the parable of the sower. This is talking about us hearing the word but letting our issues and wealth dictating our future and choking the word out of us, going back to our old selves. It is putting everything we have before God.
Something that we should know is when we put God first, he can fix our other issues. When we put anything before God, we have put that above God and have told God we are going to take care of that issue ourselves and do not need God. It is a trust issue and we trust ourselves more than God. We need to focus on God when issues arise, that is how we get through them with a positive outcome. If we focus on our issues, they will overcome us. That is when our prayer life is taken to a new level. We have to look at what I call our tool belt and choose the tool that works to overcome and brings us closer to God through the Holy Spirit. In times of trouble, we forget the tools we have. The Holy Spirit should be giving us the wisdom to deal with what we are going through. It depends on us and our relationship with the Holy Spirit.
The thing that I found out was we needed to know God and his character which should match our character. That is a learning process that comes from studying God and the Bible. It is a process that never stops. If we are not learning something new, we are sliding back. We might think we can stay where we are but in reality, we have to either move ahead or slide back. Being able to move ahead requires us to study the Bible or choose to move when the Holy Spirit asks us. When we do not investigate what pastors or other people tell us we can be living a lie or going against what the truth says. We are responsible for what we do or say and will be held accountable on judgment day. Romans 14:11-13 says “For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. So then every one of us shall give an account of himself to God. Let us not, therefore, judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumbling block or an occasion to fall in his brother’s way.” We are accountable for ourselves and so we are not to judge anybody else.
Instead of judging somebody we should try and help them by teaching them what the Bible says which in turn can give us some wisdom and we may find that we might learn something in the process. While looking for verses that I am looking for to write this blog the Holy Spirit brings verses to me to investigate what somebody else has said to me. This is the way the Holy Spirit does things to show us the truth and to either show the truth somebody told us or why what somebody has said was wrong. When we are living off somebody else’s knowledge and believing them without checking the information out that is lazy on our part. When we suddenly believe something is wrong that is the Holy Spirit that is putting a “check in our Spirit.” It is meant for us to be on guard or to tell us something is not right. This is another tool the Holy Spirit has given us to use. It is a spiritual tool where we are supposed to take the fight against the enemy. Acts 16:6-7 says “Now when they had gone throughout Phrygia and the region of Galatia, and were forbidden of the Holy Ghost to preach the word in Asia, After they were come to Mysia, they assayed (evaluated) to go into Bithynia: but the Spirit suffered them not.” This was where the Holy Ghost changed the direction where Paul was to go. The “check in the Spirit” was where God had changed the boundaries for Paul to preach to somebody else.
It is up to us to change and learn new things. Life takes us through mountains and valleys and we need to be ready for anything God has for us. It is being able to travel down whatever road the Holy Spirit takes us. If we trust God, we will be ready for anything. God Bless.
