Why we were all Given Gifts by God along with a Calling—R Fritz
Do you ever wonder what God has for you? You might see that you are good at something even before you knew God. It could be remembering things, it could the ability to talk with people, it could be always wanting to help people. These were some of the gifts given by God to help us with life. God also gave us spiritual gifts that we might not have known about before we chose Jesus.
We were given spiritual gifts that help us with our spiritual life. They complement who we are and when we become spiritual our spiritual gifts turn us into who God made us to be. Our Gifts are for God to win back this world. 1 Corinthians 12:8-11 says “For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; To another the working of miracles; to another prophesy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another interpretation of tongues: But all these worketh that one and selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.” The gifts are all from the Holy Spirit and given as needed. They are made to work with other people who have different gifts to come together and win the battles for God and to win other souls for Jesus. This is us being the servant we agreed to be when we chose Jesus. What people forget is we gave our life to Jesus. That means we will serve him. Our word should be our bond and if we forgot it is time to repent and get back to what we agreed to.
Our life changes when we choose Jesus or it should. God’s Spirit should have given us a different perception of life and what is important to us. We should feel the love that permeates the Holy Spirit. Love is what brings us to God, that feeling we can never forget. The love we were missing in our life changes our attitude and how we feel no matter how bad we feel. God’s love hits our heart and our heart controls our mind. Jeremiah 31:3 says “The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.” It is God’s lovingkindness that draws us to him. God’s lovingkindness is beyond what we as humans know until God uses it. That amazing love changes our disposition because it melts our hearts with the Holy Spirit.
That is what is interesting when people choose their old life of sin over that of
lovingkindness. It is the light that shines in the darkness, the light that can shine into any crack or fissure in our life that the Holy Spirit can point to for us to remove or change that issue with God’s help. It is not us alone that has to work on our issues, it is the Holy Spirit and us, we just need to ask for help. We want to do it on our own, I get that because I have been there, the overcomer asks for help. That is when pride shows up when we think we are the only ones and we do not need God. God will not get involved if you do not want him to.
We all want the best in our life but are we willing to do what God asks us to do or are we going to do it our way? We have to be righteous and holy, that is what God is and that is what we have to be. That requires us to be surrendered to the Holy Spirit. Matthew 22:14 says this is Jesus, speaking “For many are called, but few are chosen” Verses 1-14 talk about this parable. This was about the parable of the wedding feast where people were called but they had excuses not to show up. The king had his followers personally invite the same people saying the dinner was ready and the table was set, some of the people invited even killed some of the king’s people. The king sent troops to kill those that killed his people and burn the city. The king says the people were not worthy of being invited and directs his people to find any people good or bad and bring them to the wedding feast. The king saw a man brought without wedding garments. The king asked this man why he was there without wedding garments, but the man did not answer. The king said to bind this man and cast him into outer darkness.
Jesus was trying to show us that first the Jews and then the Gentiles were invited to the banquet. The Jews refused to come to the banquet so the Gentiles were invited. I did not understand the wedding garment and I said to God “if I am your Apostle and teacher, I need to understand this totally.” The next morning the Holy Spirit showed me. The wedding garment is “God’s righteousness” and we get it only from The Holy Spirit. Our righteousness is like filthy rags. Isaiah 64:6 says “But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousness is as filthy rags, and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.” When we stand before Jesus, we will have to answer as Jesus looks at our hearts and knows if we followed the Holy Spirit. We will all be called but some will take that call (invite) seriously and choose to follow the Holy Spirit and obey. If we follow Jesus our way, we will not be provided the “garment for the feast” (Righteousness), if not we will be cast into outer darkness, hell. Without that garment of righteousness, we do not belong at God’s feast.
Our choices are important and we are responsible for them so we need the Holy Spirit to show us when we ask him questions to know we are still on track and following the Holy Spirit. A couple of weeks ago somebody had a word for me and told me I was called to be an Apostle. I forgot what was said until this week when reminded by the Holy Spirit and started to investigate what an Apostle is and what they do. The question I asked God as I wrote this was “if I am your apostle and teacher you need to give me understanding.” He gave me what I asked. If we are expected to perform something for God, he will give us the tools to accomplish whatever he wants us to do. Ephesians 4:11 says “And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:” Some have a higher calling to help God in whatever task he has appointed us to do. With that calling is required to do greater things, required to know more, required to spend more time studying.
We all need to find our spiritual gifts and how to use them. It also requires us to speak to the Holy Spirit to see if we have a higher calling. Let’s all be all we were meant to be. God Bless.
