We Cannot let Excuses Stop our Relationship with the Holy Spirit—R Fritz

When we use excuses or reasons in our mind why we cannot do things that are our thoughts that dictate what we will do. It is our experiences or what we have seen over time that guides us. Our experiences are not the Holy Spirit, that is us directing our actions. We spend too much time believing in ourselves, it is a time when our thoughts (our mind) and experiences along with the Holy Spirit will change lives. Roman 12:2 says “Be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” We need to renew our minds by studying the Bible and spending time with the Holy Spirit to see the will of God, how else would we know God’s will?

A day ago, somebody said to me they did not want to travel to see relatives and gave me reasons not to go. My answer to them was it does not matter what we thought and asked them if they had asked the Holy Spirit. Their answer was “no,” did not even give it any thought. How can we obey God when we are not asking what we should be doing? We do what we have always done and try to use our wisdom and live our experiences figuring that nothing has changed so we expect the same outcome as the last time we have been in the situation. That is what gets us into trouble. We do not ask the Holy Spirit whether we should go and talk to people about the issues we had in the past because if God has sent us he has his hands on the situation and we should expect changes are happening because God has sent us.

It is our thinking that is off. Our thought process should automatically think about God and what he wants because we are a team and he knows what is best for us. When we think of God when all decisions have to be made, we are “surrendered” and our thoughts and the Holy Spirit become one. That does not mean we are a robot or that our thoughts are not processed by the Holy Spirit. I am amazed at some of the things that come out of my mouth that are not necessarily me. The words spoken have sometimes changed how other people think or be an answer for them. That is how we will do great things as Jesus did because we will become like the disciples and can be like Jesus. John 14:12,17 says and this is Jesus, speaking “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto

my Father. Even the Spirit of Truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.” We are a vessel for the Holy Spirit. That is why we need to be righteous and holy.

This is who we can be, we just have to choose to do what God wants us to do. Just like everybody I have thoughts or see issues that want to stop me from doing God’s work, I just will not let my past stop my future and work through what I need to. A year ago, I was asked to go to a hospital because somebody was not doing well because they were being told they were going to die by staff. It was somebody I did not know very well. I personally did not want to go but I knew God needed me to go. What I am saying is it does not matter what I think or want to do, it only matters what God wants me to do. It is me being wherever God wants me to be at whatever time God needs me to be there. That is my duty, once I get there is where God through the Holy Spirit takes over and speaks whatever needs to be said through me using my personality. Satan did not want me to go to the hospital either and the weather started to snow and blow with heavy winds as I was getting to the hospital. What people have to understand is if you are doing God’s business he will take care of you, you just have to trust him. Satan thinks he can manipulate us through our thoughts and the weather. Satan lost because the words that I spoke got this person out of bed and to believe they were not going to die after I left. The words spoken by some staff at the hospital were words given by Satan for this person to believe they were going to die. Remember what is said about words and the power of the tongue. Proverbs 18:21 says “Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.” I personally saw how words can kill the spirit and people can die but God nullified the words spoken to kill somebody’s spirit with God’s words through myself speaking life into this person’s life.

This is what is important, God knew this person was in trouble and could have died. I was sent to that hospital and the words spoken changed this person’s attitude and outcome. I have heard the spouse’s story of what they saw and what was going on spiritually. They have spoken it many times while I have been with them with other people to hear the story. This person’s life was going downhill fast and this is how God wanted to save this person. God wanted people to know we need to obey because somebody’s life could be on the line.

That was not the end of the story of what God wanted me to do. This person went from the hospital to a nursing home for rehab to gain their strength back. I was asked to go to the nursing home to be with this person because the spouse had to go to a funeral. Again, I did not want to go because I did not know this person very well but agreed to go. The Holy Spirit had given me two verses to give to this person. Satan had to involve himself in God’s business by bombarding me with words to stop me the closer I got to the nursing home. Satan did not even try and hide who he was, with abusive words, I just tuned him out. When I got into the nursing home, the person I saw did most of the talking. I gave the verses God gave me to this person. The verses did not seem to even get a reaction from this person. The next morning, I felt like I failed God. The Holy Spirit told me I did not fail. A couple of hours later I received a phone call from the spouse that this person was out of bed, shaved, and sitting in a chair before they got there. Before I talked to them, they could not even get out of bed and three days later I drove them home. The verses the Holy Spirit gave me was 2 Corinthians 10:4-5 which says (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalted itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;” These two verses shredded the words and thoughts Satan had given this person.

We have a choice but we need to know what God wants us to do. We need to ask God what we should do, whether it is bringing the Holy Spirit into our situation or asking God if there is a better way or what should I do. We have too many people not asking God what to do and people are dying spiritually and losing their life. I would hate for me praying for God to help me and the one who was supposed to help me did not show up. Sometimes our job is to pray for somebody else to give them the courage to do God’s will. There were people praying for me to accomplish what God needed me to do for this person and their family.

Let’s ask the Holy Spirit what we should do in all things we do, that is being obedient and then giving the Holy Spirit authority through us to accomplish what God has us to do. No Excuses. God Bless.
