Why do We Think we can go on Automatic Pilot in Life—R Fritz

Automatic pilot is doing what we always have done or doing what the Holy Spirit told us once in another situation and using it without asking if the Holy Spirit wanted us to use it again because we think it will work another time. Jesus did not always do the same for what looked like the same situation. Jesus was speaking to his people in parables for a reason. He was speaking to his followers then and is still speaking to his followers now because he is spiritual, so those that want to know him, hear him, and study God’s Word can. That is where we find out who God is, and his expectations, and then when we hear a voice or when our thoughts come, we can discern through our spirit which thoughts are from the Holy Spirit and those who are not we discard. Matthew 13:10-13,15 says, and this is Jesus speaking “And the disciples came, and said unto them, why speakest thou unto them in parables? He answered and said unto them, “Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given. For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath. Therefore, speak I to them in parables: because they are seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand. For this people’s heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.” Those that know Jesus and follow him will have the eyes to see and the ears to hear and understand him and those that do not personally know him will not hear him nor understand his word. It is not about what we think God would want us to do.

When we do what we think God wants us to do, it is like throwing mud at the wall to see what will stick, in other words we hope something works but we do not know if anything will work. That is crazy on our part, we forget to ask in prayer as well as asking before we get going, I have been there myself. I have had people ask me to do things without praying about it. When I find things are not working out, I hear that I did not ask what God has planned, I am just shooting from the hip as I go because I am listening to people. It is believing in a person first and what they say and not bringing in the Holy Spirit. What people want us to do is them looking at things from their viewpoint. We must look at what they are asking and see if it is good for us as well as if it is good for them. They look at their interests first in most cases.

We all look at our interests first, then God’s love changes our thoughts then our actions. That is one way to notice where our thoughts are coming from. God’s love will always change us. We are to treat people better than they deserve because that is how God treats us. It is that unconditional love that shows how we are supposed to be. That is the love we need when things are not going well for us. We forget that God loves us, and our thoughts want to make us feel bad because our thoughts come from Satan. Satan always wants us to feel we have sinned or done something wrong, that is what Satan does. It is our self-talk that will change our life and change our attitudes as we go through things. The self-talk is talking to the Holy Spirit as well as hearing or remembering Bible verses as we go. God loves us so he does not want us to fail. We sometimes feel we are by ourselves or are fighting our own battle. Deuteronomy 31:8 says, “And the LORD, he it is that doth go before thee, he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed.” The Lord will go before us, be with us, and will not forsake us.

Reading and studying God’s word gives us the edge when things are going wrong in our life. There are times when other people make our life miserable. Satan uses people to get to us. That is where we need to discern what is happening around us. We need to keep our thoughts in line with God’s word to overcome. Hebrews 4:12 says “For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” God’s word is the answer to going on automatic pilot, remembering what we should do first before we move into action. Satan wants us to fight in the flesh because we are going to lose. I have seen it happen many times for me. When we fight in the flesh everybody sees what is coming, fighting in the spirit does not show up until it is revealed.

Because Satan does not see things in the Spirit before it shows up, he does not like us to fight in the Spirit. Satan wants to manipulate us through our thoughts by telling us something to see how we will react. Satan knows us, what we like and dislike, so it is easy for him to manipulate us. The Holy Spirit shows us what is happening as it happens to reveal to us so we can respond to what Satan is doing. Automatic pilot or going on our knowledge leaves us doing exactly as Satan wants. We cannot overcome the issues in our life if we do not see them. Our time spent praying and talking to the Holy Spirit is valuable to change our life. Let us change the outcome in our life through the Holy Spirit. God Bless.
