We were Made a Vessel to Hold Something—R Fritz
God wanted us to be a vessel to hold something, that was God’s plan. That vessel we are was a place for the Holy Spirit. Before we chose the Holy Spirit there were other spirits who took resident because we are spiritual beings. Matthew 12:43-45 says with Jesus speaking “When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none. Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished. Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also onto this wicked generation.” People are unknowledgeable and fearful of spiritual things. The truth is we are spiritual beings and not wanting to hear God’s truth is making us not wanting the truth because of our fear. God’s love stops fear with his truth.
Our body was made to contain the Holy Spirit. That is why we chose other things to reside in that place. I will call it stuff, whatever made us feel good at the time. When something could not fill that place reserved for God we moved on again and again. As I said it is God’s place and we gave it to anything that we thought would fill God’s spot. It never worked because nothing will replace God’s love; money, man’s love, work, they are meaningless. Because we do not know God through the Holy Spirit, we made decisions on how we perceived were best for us through our feelings and our wisdom. All we had to do was ask the Holy Spirit and listen through our thoughts. We are spiritual and our thoughts are heard because the Holy Spirit lives in us and answers back through our thoughts. We must fight between all the other thoughts that come our way including Satan’s thoughts. We should know the Holy Spirit’s voice as John10:2-5 says with Jesus speaking “But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. To him the porter openeth, and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out. And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice. And a stranger will they not follow but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers.” We do know the Voice of Truth (Holy Spirit) we just have not had the relationship and that is on us. Jesus is the shepherd, and we are the sheep Jesus was referring to. Sheep know their shepherd because they know the shepherd takes care of them and will follow their shepherd wherever he goes.
We also hear his voice through the Bible because God’s Word comes alive. I have seen God’s Word come alive. We were not told of why we need God in other words the advantages God gives us are not spoken about. What it takes to get a relationship with the Holy Spirit requires us to put the Holy Spirit first in all things. If we put God first that would be an act of faith that God will bless us. Matthew 6:33 says and this is Jesus speaking “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.” For me it is putting what God wants me to do first, but it is not necessarily having to run all over because we have a God that requires order and is not going to make us to be disorderly. God makes the places and people I need to see before I even get up and knowing what I need to do lets me know because whether we know it or not, he whispers in our ears.
If we are a vessel of honor, we are to be careful about what we are doing. Being filled with the Holy Spirit keeps us on a path where we follow what is set before us. It is when we decide to do our own thing and leave the Holy Spirit out of our plans that we have trouble. When we leave the Holy Spirit out of our plans, we cannot see the issues that arise because that requires us to be in the Spirit. Prayer before we make decisions is what keeps us in tune where the Holy Spirit will let us know what we need. Roman 8:26 says “Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities (weaknesses) for we know what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.”
The top of our game is when our vessel is full, we might ask full of what, full of God’s love. Love is who God is and if the Holy Spirit lives in us how can we be any different. That Holy Spirit is the person we become with our personality, our likes, needs, and wants. We are not a robot nor does God want us to be one as we still have free will. People are fearful of change, but I learned to embrace it. The Holy Spirit was a change that just happened as the more giving up my will and the Holy Spirit giving me more wisdom to see how beneficial and easier my life is in some ways. I still have experiences where I must learn lessons to be able to teach others. I do not always enjoy the lessons but that is how the Holy Spirit wants us to learn our wisdom to get understanding. We need to let the Holy Spirit drive our life and to do that we must be humble and let the Holy Spirit drive and we are to be in the passenger seat. John 3:30-31 says “He must increase, but I must decrease. He that cometh from above is above all: he that is of the earth is earthly, and speaketh of the earth: he that cometh from heaven is above all.”
It is hard to give up being the leader of our life, but a true leader knows when it is time in our life to give the leadership role to our eternal leader Jesus who when he left earth to send The Holy Spirit in his place was to lead us. It is up to us now to give the leadership role to Jesus through the Holy Spirit and be the person God has wanted us to be. God Bless.
