When we doubt ourselves, we also doubt the Holy Spirit—R Fritz
People have reservations over many different things in their lives. Doubts happen because of our past and fear, they also come from our thought process, our self-confidence, or our self-worth. When we believe those thoughts that we cannot do something they become self-proclaimed truth and that will be our result. These are our thoughts; they are not from the Holy Spirit. We accept our thoughts without questioning them or stopping them, that is what the Holy Spirit does for us. The more we surrender the more the Holy Spirit changes those thoughts and reminds us of what is truth. We are not in control of all the thoughts that come into our minds, but we are responsible for our thoughts when we accept them. When we accept our thoughts, we get rid of the thoughts that are not holy or are not what is best for us and accept the other thoughts to be processed with the Holy Spirit. It sounds like a long process, but it is not because the Holy Spirit is processing as we go and we produce a quicker answer, the right answer. This process requires us to trust the Holy Spirit. We can trust ourselves which is what we have done most of our lives or we can trust God who has been looking out for us who knows everything about us and knows what we are going to do, we choose who we trust with our actions. 1 John 3:18-22 says “My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue: but indeed, and in truth. And hereby we know that we are of the truth and shall assure our hearts before him. For if our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things. Beloved, if our heart condemns us not, then have we confidence toward God. And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.” God knows all things compared to us, yet we choose our thoughts. We then wonder why our life does not change; it requires a change starting with our thoughts.
I just went to a coach meeting for a sport. One of the topics I went to was mental preparation and believing in ourselves. We have God-given talent given to each of us. The people who succeed greatly in sports have had to have more than just the God-given gift, there is a mental part that goes with sports that sets those people apart. The sport is ninety percent mental preparation to give the participants the ability to succeed to the best of their ability. Most people do not know that, nor do they know how to apply the mental part. You might ask how a sport applies to us in our ordinary lives. We are spiritual beings with the Holy Spirit in us so what we are asking God through our prayers and speaking with the Holy Spirit is applied the same way by believing we can accomplish what we need in life. The principals in our life as well as sports are like us controlling our thoughts to succeed. It is a matter of getting our heads in the game. Those who have the Holy Spirit can do greater things as we have that relationship with the Holy Spirit. The greater things to come, come through the Holy Spirit. John 14:11-14,16 says, and this is Jesus’ speaking “Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works’ sake. Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth in me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do, because I go to unto my Father. And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask anything in my name, I will do it. And I will praythe Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;” We can do greater things because the Comforter (the Holy Spirit) dwells in us, we believe and because of the Holy Spirit we ask for the right things they will be granted.
Fear brings in doubt, it stops us immediately. Fear takes our thoughts telling us we cannot do what we want, fear takes our confidence away from us. Fear needs to be taken head-on, Satan is the leader of fear, it is a lie taking our past and bringing it into our future. It has to do with our thoughts. 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 says, “For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.” These are the verses given to me by the Holy Spirit that stopped fear immediately for me. These verses will stop any thought that does not line up with God’s word.
Somebody called me this week telling me what had happened to them when they waited in the parking lot at work. This person was watching somebody and staying till this person left and then drove home a different way than normal. The weather was not good and drove slowly where the traffic stopped. When this person started moving again, they went past an accident where somebody was lying on the road when they drove by to go home. This person thought about what had happened and felt bad, they felt they should have stopped at the accident and prayed. This is what I said to this person; you stayed in the parking lot for a reason, it could be to stop you from being involved in the accident, not stopping at the accident was because there were people already there and were not needed there. We forget the Holy Spirit is in control and puts us in the place we belong at the time we are supposed to be there. We think we know how God wants us to operate in all situations, which is far from the truth. We need to follow the Holy Spirit. We are going on our thoughts and when they do not line up to what we think it is supposed to be we doubt ourselves which also doubts the Holy Spirit which lives in us. We need to trust the Holy Spirit when we see something we think we should do without second guessing. The thing I do is if I do not hear from the Holy Spirit, I ask the Holy Spirit if I am supposed to do what I think and wait for an answer if I do not hear anything I go on with my life. Satan wants to get involved in our thoughts telling us we did not do what we should have done making us feel bad.
We go through things and feel we have done wrong; the answer always is to ask God the question “What am I supposed to do.” We walk around life without communicating with God when he is right around us. Surrendered people have a relationship that we speak to and ask questions of the Holy Spirit as we would with any other person at any time we need to. Doubt or unbelief was not given to us by God but by Satan. Do not accept doubt, throw it back at Satan, and believe we can do anything. God Bless.
