If We Want God’s Help We Must Get out of the Way—R Fritz

Too many people want God to change what is going on in their life but want to keep control of people they want to change. The problem is we do not trust God, or we would let go of people. It is thinking we know more than God that gets us in trouble. “For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.” I have just had a conversation with somebody where I talked about when we give God a situation or a person, we do not take it back because we think we need to keep reminding somebody about something. I said, “God can remind somebody better than us.” This person did not want to hear that. Some people do not want to hear the truth. Why do we think we can remind somebody when God can remind us with a change of heart where we are changed for life? We must look at our motives versus listening and obeying what the Holy Spirit says. I have learned to wait on the Holy Spirit trusting and seeing how the Holy Spirit has spoken to people as these people have a different perspective than before.

It is timing that people think we need to change. It is our time where we want things to happen now. We have been trying to live on our time all our life. Ecclesiastes 3:1 says, “To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted.” The verses go on about time in the verses after these. Instead of changing somebody to dance to our time bring love into our words and actions with God’s time which sees all angles of what is happening. We only see one side of any situation “ours,” and do not see the other person’s side. What the Holy Spirit showed me is we need to stand in somebody else’s shoes and get a different perspective about how we see things. When we take God’s perspective into what we say and think, we will treat people how they should be with love. I have changed how I look at things when people talk to me from what the Holy Spirit has shown me. I find that the Holy Spirit has given me the answers to what was told to me several times. I am shown in these cases something is going on spiritually where somebody sees things through their eyes only. That is my job as a chaplain where the Holy Spirit gives me the spiritual eyes to see. One of the things I ask the Holy Spirit when I am asked to do something new is to give me the tools to be successful or in some cases I have had to take a written test where I was given the ability to pass this test. Every time I asked the Holy Spirit what I needed, was done when I asked. Sometimes I have taken a test and look at the questions and say to myself “I never read about these questions.” What I do is first do the questions I know and go back to the questions I do not know and pray for each one of them for the answer. The Holy Spirit is not going to let us fail if we are doing something for God.

I wish people could see the things I have seen as far as wanting things to happen but waiting for the things I have prayed for and sometimes being told to be patient by the Holy Spirit or waiting and seeing what I had prayed for happening. What people did not see was the days, weeks, or months before the answer, sometimes struggling and not seeing what I wanted to see. I go through the same things as everybody else, the difference is my relationship with talking with the Holy Spirit. That relationship is a respect for God and asking the Holy Spirit to show me what is going on in situations which in a lot of cases the Holy Spirit gives me vivid pictures. We must remember in some cases people need to change or somebody needs to speak to somebody or in other cases God needs to send somebody else to do what needs to be done because somebody did not do what God needed to be done. We might not understand why our prayers are not answered on our time, which is why God wants me to tell people of what happens. Daniel 10:12-13 says “Then said he unto me, Fear not, Daniel: for from the first day that thou didst set thine heart to understand, and to chasten thyself before thy God, thy words were heard, and I am come for thy words. But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me; and I remained there with the kings of Persia.” In Daniel’s case God sent an angel who was held hostage where Michael the archangel had to fight the kings of Persia to get the angel freed to explain to Daniel what his vision meant. God will do the same for us if he needs to. God is looking out for us through the Holy Spirit because the battle is spiritual.

With knowledge brings responsibility and expectations with God, which is where I am. I am involved in more and more situations with people where God has a plan and a way to change lives and situations. God’s plan and our plans are not the same. We come at a crossroads in our life to what plan to trust. To me it is obvious which plan to follow but we must take a stand for God’s truth and give up our plan and our will which we think is the best for us. We believe it is the best for us because it is our plan, and we trust ourselves going back to before we met Jesus. We have not changed in our thinking or have gone back to some of our old ways. I say that because we say the words to follow Jesus, our actions do not back our words. I say that because our enemy Satan has gotten to our thoughts, we must go back to Jesus and who he is and know who Satan is. 1 John 2:16 says “For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.” This is how Satan gets to us and our thoughts because Satan is the father of this world. Satan uses our thoughts and sin to manipulate us by us believing these thoughts.

The Holy Spirit was sent for us to always have the Lord live in us forever. People have forgotten the Holy Spirit and do not understand what they have. When we have sold out, our life rotates around that Spirit in us. That does not mean we cannot have our own life; it means our life is comingled with God’s plan. It also means we still have life’s problems as well as others who God puts in our path; the difference is we have the Holy Spirit’s answers when we trust him. The answer is to surrender our will which takes time with change giving us the ability to get through our issues that stop us. Start now to change where our life is going. God Bless.
