Why are we Looking Down on Ourselves? —R Fritz

I see and hear of many people that have low expectations of themselves. Why Is that? It is believing in God and hope, but we hear Satan tell us lies that after a while we start to believe because we believe our eyes and feel the stress and chaos in our life. Satan is the originator of lies and fear based on the lies of taking our past and bringing it into our future. I am an expert on fear because I dealt with it for fifty years then conquered it. It was the Holy Spirit that lives in us was how I overcome fear, it requires seeing and fighting in the Spirit. Fear must be tackled head-on, something most people do not know how to do. I struggled through battles with spiritual things that happened and did not know how to fight. Years ago, people told me to fight in the spirit but could not tell or show me how. Then the Holy Spirit told me he would teach me, that was over twenty years ago.

The low expectations are because people have given up, lost their hope, and have not chosen to serve Jesus. Their belief is in themselves and sometimes people need to hit bottom before they agree to change. People may have spoken the words; belief comes from action. We are not handed easy situations where we put ourselves in to battle with our family or spouse. It requires us to battle through our problems with the Holy Spirit being our teacher. That is why I got through my issues to be able to teach others besides giving hope. John 14:26 says “But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”  The Holy Ghost shall teach us all things and bring the remembrance of all things, which is what happens to me as an ongoing thing. The Holy Ghost’s peace endures when we are in the eye of the storm which is why people do not know why they are down, it is their vision or lack of a vision.

That was where I was with no vision, so I have been there. Proverbs 29:18 says, “Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.” My choice to choose Jesus was the start of my vision, that vision was given to me by God with a purpose and a way to get where I need to go. At that point all I must do is follow that plan which for me is doing what I need where the Holy Spirit adds his things for me to do. If we do not have goals, a purpose, or a vision we are in in trouble. We need to feel alive and see things happening, not as I had which was just going through the motions of life because the money was good. I had no reason to keep doing what I was doing because I could not see myself doing the same thing for the rest of my life which at that time, I was not willing to change. We are afraid of change because we do not know the outcome from something new and will not take a chance. Fear keeps us doing the same thing. That is where Satan wants us between a rock and a hard place, so we believe we are caught someplace and cannot get out with no hope. Reality comes from Jesus where spiritually we see the whole picture where we see the hope that was right in front of us in the spirit. Now we can see the hope, next we must defeat fear.

Fear held me to believe I had nothing else I could do. Fear is a lie propagated in our thoughts. When we hear something untruthful long enough, we start to believe it. This is what I have seen many times with the Holy Spirit’s help. Satan is a liar and the father of lies. John 8:44, 47 says and this is Jesus’ speaking “Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode (resides) not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. He that is of God heareth God’s words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God.”  These are the characteristics of Satan. Satan is that liar who uses fear to lie to us through our thoughts where the past is brought into our future where people worry about possible things that will not happen. Fear is believing in these lies where faith or God do not exist. We forget God because if we focus on God through the Holy Spirit those thoughts must leave immediately. When I climbed a fourteen-thousand-foot mountain about fifteen years ago Satan told me I was not going up or down at about twelve-thousand feet, what I saw was the terrain change before my eyes. My reply to Satan was “shut up Satan I am going to the top.” Those spoken words removed that perception of the terrain to go back to exactly as it was instead of getting me to believe the lie that the terrain changed to extremely steep. 2 Corinthians 10:4-5 says “(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;”  These verses stop fear immediately because our thoughts, even the ones Satan wants to confuse has to cease to exist. I knew every fear verse in the Bible when the Holy Spirit gave me this verse it stopped fear immediately and any other thought that was not from God. Our weapons to overcome Satan are spiritual, not from this world.

We choose the road we go down, once down that road without Jesus we are destined to lose the battle for our soul. We do not understand because we have believed in ourselves and the people of this world. When we find out we have a God who is looking out for us and has all truth we have a decision which for me was simple. The choice is God’s love, peace, grace, mercy, and joy compared to our old life of despair and no hope where Satan wants our soul and to make this life miserable. Satan knows his future and wants to take everybody he can down the road to the same sentence as him to eternal damnation. Over twenty years ago the Holy Spirit gave me the option to be my teacher, I accepted because God was the only chance there was to change my circumstances. That decision was to move forward and do not look back. One thing I learned is we might not get a second chance. Grab Jesus with both hands and hang on for a ride that in the end takes us to the eternal life we are destined for. God Bless.
