It is Better to Give than Receive—R Fritz

This statement should make us think about our lives and what we did for the people around us and the people we met. Two things happened to me this week, one being I sold an old camper. The person who bought the camper was very respectful to me in time and questions. When they came to look at it, this person called the camper having character and just what they were looking for and got the money to me that night. They said they would pick up the camper in a couple of days at a particular time which they did. When we talk about giving it is not all about money, it is about different things. I wanted to bless these people who blessed me, as this camper was a blessing for them, and I wanted to add blessings to these people. When somebody who we do not know treats us specially they should be treated the same way. At this point prayers for this family were offered. We forget or do not know that there are angels that we have not seen or know we have encountered. I am not saying these people were angels, but this is what the Holy Spirit is giving me. About fifteen years ago I asked God why I have never seen angels because I battle spirits all the time. About a week later as I had left my house, I saw a person on the road with everything out of the trunk of their car on the side of the road. I went back home because I had forgotten something, came back to this person, and asked them what was wrong. I changed their tire, added some air to another tire, and started to have a conversation with this person. As I was looking at this person, I knew this person was an angel and was in tears as God revealed who this person was. This person was a normal young person talking about a friend. Hebrew 13:1-2 says “Let brotherly love continue. Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.” This is why we should treat people respectfully with love. Angels are around us and sometimes we are tested on how we treat people. We choose every morning who we will be as we go out in the world. If we listen to the Holy Spirit, we will be blessed if not our day will not turn out the way we like. With the Holy Spirit, even bad days can be blessed with us in the eye of the storm. Angels are around us and we do not know it. That is because they are God’s creatures that were created for God and are used by God.

The second thing that happened to me was I had an issue with my car and had to haul my car by wrecker to a mechanic’s shop. I went to the shop and got my car running for a couple of days then it would not start in my garage. I saw the mechanic and he came to my house to look at my car, diagnosed me, and had me start to work on it. I had trouble putting the new part in and called this person and this person stopped what this person was doing and came back out to my house to help finish the job and get my car running. I asked this person how much I owed and said forty dollars which included a part. I said you will get more than that which was sixty plus I said you will get something when you least expect it. It included prayer with this person for a health issue. Where do we get house service for our car, it does not happen. Remember the Holy Spirit has our back if we let him. Romans 8:26-28,31 says “Likewise the Spirit helpeth our infirmities (weaknesses): for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God. And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to his purpose. What shall we then say about these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? The Holy Spirit makes intercession for the saints according to God’s will.

Giving comes from our heart whether time, money, or things is what we consider extra. It is about selflessness and serving others where we see a need. It is understanding God’s principles spoken by Paul with a quote from Jesus in Acts 20:35 I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the LORD Jesus, how he said, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.” One thing we forget is that God can bless us when we give. When we choose to give if we get something back great if not great.

Sometimes the little things we do for people are rewarded. The Holy Spirit reminds people of the things we have done. I can say that because the Holy Spirit does it to me. We choose how we treat people and over time people know what kind of person we are. People know if they need something we will be there for them. Isn’t it something when we need some help these people step forward? We become friends just like Jesus calls those who obey him. John 15:13-14 says, and this is Jesus’ speaking “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.” We choose who are friends, let Jesus be our friend by obeying him through the Holy Spirit. God Bless.
