Are We on God’s Time or Our Time?—R Fritz
God has given us time; we can use our time on earth for our things or use it for God. That is our decision where we choose who we will serve, God or man. We need to divide our time between God, family, job, and friends. The time we spend with God affects the other people in our life if we put God first. This is God’s time where we get up and help somebody and let the Holy Spirit lead us during our day. That is what I do and have more time than most. I just finished a day when I left my house at eight thirty in the morning to replace a battery with a vehicle which should have taken less than half an hour to change for somebody who lost their spouse where they could not find anyone to help. When I finished, I slammed the hood to find out after starting the vehicle’s security system locked the doors with the vehicle running and we could not find another key. We had to call a locksmith, and this person kept apologizing to me. I said we are on God’s time so do not worry about the time it is taking, because it belongs to God. I did have another place to go five hours later and had to push the next person back, but they understood. I say to people when I leave my house I know when my things will be done but then comes what God wants me to do. Ecclesiastes 3:1-8,11 says “To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted; A time to kill and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing: A time to get and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; A time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace. He hath made everything beautiful in his time: also, he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end.” This explains the things we do at various times in our life.
Man speaks as time is money, God does not. Time is valuable because we only have so much. We do not know exactly how much time we have, when we are young, we think we will live forever in our mind. We think this way because we use our knowledge and do not know God or his wisdom. We are not guaranteed tomorrow, just the time present. We can make plans, but they may not happen. Matthew 6:33-34 says, and this is Jesus’ speaking “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.” If we seek God and his righteousness, tomorrow will be taken care of.
Because we believe we have lots of time we sometimes take life and time for granted where other people around us might not have that same time. People believe we can put things off till tomorrow, then we forget to do what we had planned to do. I choose to do most things immediately because I know I can forget to do things because I have learned my lesson, I also have the Holy Spirit who reminds me. Spending our time with the Holy Spirit gives our time structure and purpose where we trust God will use it wisely. We choose what we do every day, the issue is we do not get our marching orders from the Holy Spirit before we leave in the morning. I learned years ago that praying before going to bed did not work for me because I would fall asleep. My choice was to give my best time to God by getting up early in the morning before I went to work. In my case it was two-thirty in the morning. The Holy Spirit spoke to me when I was awake even when my eyes were not open, but I was awake. This is what happens when we give God our best. Colossians 3:23-24 says, “And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.” Because of my choice to give God my best time I was able to bless many people. There was a price to pay in that I lost some sleep, the Holy Spirit keeps us safe when we do not receive enough sleep. Your inheritance is eternal life through Jesus.
Our future depends on being on God’s time and being in God’s will. What does that mean for us? The Holy Spirit is our lifeline and who will teach us all things that matter. Do we choose to surrender to the Holy Spirit? Maybe surrendering is a little at a time depending on our family or job for the time being, what most people do not understand is the more time spent with the Holy Spirit which lives inside us and goes we are go so we do not need to leave our house or when we are at work will help with our family and our job. Choose our time spent with the Holy Spirit because it will change lives. God Bless.
