Are we Ready for Death—R Fritz

Death is the end of this life on Earth, and if we have chosen Jesus, the start of our eternal life. The Bible says there is no sting of death because we have died already from our sinful life. 1 Corinthians 15:54-57 says, “So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” Without sin, there would be no death. Adam started sinning (disobedience) in the Garden of Eden, and without that sin, we would not have had to go through life as we know it, because we would have had life with God. When sin came in, God would not be around sin and sent Adam away. We are born into sin, and until we choose Jesus and repent, death is part of us. When we die from this life, we go into eternal life because our sin was nailed to the cross, and there is no death. To those who do not choose Jesus and repent, there is death because there is still sin in their lif,e and death is the consequence for sin.

The Holy Spirit was brought in after Jesus died and showed us what would happen after death and where we would go as the Holy Spirit was sent to teach us all things. The timing of our death is decided by God, but we can choose to do things that shorten our lives. Remember, God is in control of everything. Ecclesiastes 3:1-2 says, “To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted.” Where are we, where time is concerned? The things of God do not have an unlimited timeframe. We might think we do not have to be in a rush as we do not know when our last minute, hour or day will be. When we are young, we think we will live forever, and as we get older, we start to think that time is going by us. We must trust God, as we also must know we do not know how much time we have. The thing that we should understand is that we have to choose Jesus and repent of our sins, obey, and follow Jesus. That is what will tell us where our eternal place will be. It is important to do the things to take care of our family; we need to make sure they are taken care of. The number one thing for us is to secure our place in heaven. Then we need to start our relationship with God through the Holy Spirit, where our will and life is surrendered to God. When we surrender our lives, we will hear the Holy Spirit as we live our lives with blessings for our choices.

One thing we should not let happen is to let fear make our decisions. Satan wants to control our lives, and fear is what he uses. Fear is a lie bringing the future into our presence. We worry about what we perceive could happen and dwell on i,t believing it might happen. There is no truth in what we perceive. Truth is what the Bible speaks of, how we should live our life on where the answer to any issue we might have. If that is not enough the Holy Spirit speaks to us through our thoughts and may not know the Holy Spirit’s voice, but I am sure we have heard Satan’s voice because fear comes from Satan. 2 Timothy 1;7 says, “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”  Fear is a spirit, so we need to fight it in the spirit. God has given us power, love, and a sound mind and not fear. Why do we not remember this verse, because it will change our lives. We were given tools to overcome fear.  I remembered these verses when I was fighting fear, telling myself what God had given me. That was one of the ways to overcome fear.  When we get older, we should not let fear control us, making our physical or mental health worry us, and let the Holy Spirit be our savior in life as well as death.

Satan can only get to us through our minds and our thoughts. So, we need to guard our minds. Philippians 4:7 says, “And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep (guard) your hearts and minds through Jesus Christ.”  The answer comes from the Holy Spirit, who resides in our hearts as we are the temple for the Holy Spirit. We need the Holy Spirit to be our eyes and ears to what is going on in the spirit. The spirit is where the battle is fought; it is when we fight it in the flesh, which is when we lose. The mind is the battlefield, so we need to get ready to battle. We have to take our thoughts and decide which ones to discard and keep the righteous thoughts.

Death is not to be feared if we know Jesus. Satan wants us to dread death as it will happen to each of us. If we trust Jesus, we can walk our way through it. We need to remember what Jesus says in Matthew 5:8 and believe it, “Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.”  God Bless.
