God takes Ordinary People then makes Them Special People for His Kingdom—R Fritz
Only God could take ordinary people, insignificant people who showed few outstanding characteristics and made them historic people for his kingdom. That is what happened all through the Bible. God still does the same using ordinary people today. We can be the person God uses that is our choice. We can look at the twelve disciples who were people Jesus met who wanted to follow him. Why did these people want to follow Jesus? They believed in Jesus as he showed them how to live and treat people with his character finding out he was God in the flesh. Jesus eventually proved he came to pay the price for sin which was death so we can live forever if we also believe in him, follow and obey him. If we believe in Jesus, we trust him and follow what he tells us what to do because he knows what is best for us. I just had somebody tell me that this person is going to start to do what I said. My question I asked was “what did I tell you to do.” When this person told me what I said, I said “they were suggestions.” What I heard next from this person was things were moving in the spirit because this person was used to taking care of people all their life and the Holy Spirit revealed that my suggestion was what they should do and decided to start immediately. I told them this person needs to take care of their self-first then help others because you cannot do both effectively as God needs us to focus on making us who he meant for us to be. That is what happened to me after I retired. Jeremiah 11-13 says “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.” This is the recipe for finding the LORD because he has a plan or expected end for each of us.
What comes next is up to us where we made a commitment with our words. We are supposed to become spiritual because we gave up the stoney heart and received the fleshy heart. Ezekiel 36:26-27 says “A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgements, and do them.” We can judge ourselves to see if we have the stony (stubborn, lifeless, cold to God) heart yet or fleshy (tender, compassionate, obedience to God’s laws, God’s love flows) heart. The Holy Spirit came to change our heart and mind with God’s Spirit. We are supposed to test the spirit as we can see by our words and actions if our heart changed. Which heart do we have? If we still have the characteristics of the stony heart, we should ask the Holy Spirit to change our heart and mind. The Holy Spirit is what changes our thought process and shows us the better way. How I was able to change was giving more of my will and finally surrendering all where the Holy Spirit can use us when needed. This is what fulfills our life, when we are the happiest.
God used his twelve disciples to follow him until he died and sent the Holy Spirit to teach them and us now all things as well as being God’s mouthpiece, arms and legs. We either let the world own us or we become somebody that God can count on to do what he needs done. There are no real wisdom nor blessings from the world. The Holy Spirit speaks to us through our thoughts as we live in real time and if we follow with the Bible to back us up, we can walk through life living a blessed life. We are all called but few choose Jesus then fewer yet choose to live a pleasing life doing the work for God following the Holy Spirit. Matthew 22:14 says and this is Jesus speaking “For many are called, but few are chosen.” This verse talks about a parable about the “Wedding Feast” in Matthew 22:1-14. Jesus speaks of all being called by God, the chosen are the ones who choose Jesus with faith and with that faith follow him. People still choose to follow our wisdom even though life has been hard in all phases.
It is the spiritual life we are supposed to be living because all our battles are spiritual, yet we fight in the flesh and wonder why we lose. God is a Spirit; it is by spirit we worship God as well as have a relationship with him. John 4:24 says and this is Jesus speaking “God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.” Because God is a Spirit we can speak and worship him anywhere we go as I have done many times in the workplace where I could pray walking down aisles praying where nobody could stop me because I was praying in the spirit. I saw God’ influence over people more than most churches. It was because I chose to believe, trust and obey by starting a chaplaincy program in factories. God used the least of all, me to do it. My background is being afraid of people and being happy to not talk to people most of my life. Fear stopped me in many ways and later I found out God used fear to keep me safe. Life has a way to show us that there is more to life than doing the same every day. I hated my job and life and started looking for something. I went to churches looking for that something. One church I saw God doing things and seeing things in the air above my head, spiritual things. That started my battle to overcome fear through different people by eventually hearing the Holy Spirit telling me that the Holy Spirit would teach me. It has been almost twenty-five years later where I have given bigger roles for God. Being sent to hospitals to save people that would have died there, miracles that I saw happen at hospitals or giving a word from God to somebody. None of what I was asked to do was about me, it was about my surrender so God could use me. It was about overcoming fear and the things in my life that had to change to become who God meant for me to be. When I found somebody that was real, who I could trust and believe in I was one hundred per cent in on Jesus, asking to do spiritual things I saw other people doing. That is where I am today where my prayers are answered and I found out later after praying for people their prayers are answered. It is not about me; it is about JESUS. John 14:12-13 says and this is Jesus speaking “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.” We can do greater things than Jesus because the Holy Spirit lives in us, we must surrender and believe in, and trust Jesus and we will see miracles happen as God uses us and can use you for bigger things than me if we are a willing vessel. It is all about us making that decision to walk in the Spirit. God Bless.
