We Need to be Thankful for Where we came From and Where we are Today—R Fritz
We need to look at our life how it was and who we have become. It should begin with looking at the decisions we made and how they have affected us. We should also look at the decisions we think we did not make. Every decision we make has a yes or no. When somebody gives us something that we have to make a decision on and we do not answer them we answered no we are not interested. It is automatic. The people who have offered us something know if it was not yes it was no. We have not really understood that because we have done it so much and nobody has come back to us for a real answer. Matthew 5:37 says and this is Jesus, speaking “But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil.” Our words should be yes or no. We choose not to say no because that is not what we think people want to hear. The truth is we should tell people yes or no or if you are still trying to make a decision let that be known.
Our decisions when it comes to God should have a definite yes or no. When somebody came to us talking about God, we probably did not really give it much thought and kind of blew it off. It was not what we were looking for but our life changes whether we wanted it or not. Opportunity comes because we are looking, just doing nothing is not going to give us what we want. The other thing we should be doing is praying and talking to God. When we believe in something we will be moving in a direction because it is something that we see will get our wants or needs. We have to see something for us to get us to move. Most of us chose God because we were looking for a way to change a situation we were put in or a decision we made and looking for a change in our situation, one we could not find an answer to ourselves.
The answer to all our questions and problems comes down to who God sent, Jesus came to show us the way to eternal life, we just have to follow Jesus’s lead called the Holy Spirit which was sent after Jesus died on the cross and was returned where he came from. John 16:7,13,25 says and this is Jesus, speaking “Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if not I go away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. These things have I spoken unto you in proverbs: but the time cometh, when I shall no more speak unto you in proverbs, but I shall shew you plainly of the Father.” Jesus was speaking to the disciples at that time that he would have to leave for the Holy Spirit to come before the Holy Spirit he spoke in proverbs but when we receive the Holy Spirit, he will show us plainly in words or pictures the truth. This happens when we are searching for the truth. The Holy Spirit gives truth to us when we need it.
We can look at our life before we knew Jesus and how it has changed to now. We certainly have a lot to be thankful for in the last years since we choose Jesus. It is about thinking about what God has done for us, the people who God sent to talk to us or give knowledge to us the peace and joy God brought to our life. We probably did not look at it that way, it was us believing in ourselves or it was luck. There is no such thing as luck, God is in control. You are where you are either because of your decisions or because we gave God a voice in your life.
We are to surrender it all, all of us not just parts of us to the Holy Spirit that is why we can do more. John 14:12,16 says and this is Jesus, speaking “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. And I will pray for the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.” We will be able to do greater works than Jesus if we are surrendered to the Holy Spirit because he shall be in you. We will not be able to do anything without the Holy Spirit, this goes back to the book of Acts where the disciples received the Holy Spirit and the “works” they did. It is not about us it is about if we surrender and obey the Holy Spirit. If we are surrendered, we will obey, it is automatic.
Where is each one of us today? I know where I am and that says I can do great things. What do we want to do for God? We can do great things if we want to but that is up to us. Let’s be thankful for where God took us from but let’s also be thankful and ready to go where God can take us. How far we go with God depends on us listening to the Holy Spirit and trusting him then we can go where we have never been before. That decision is up to us. Choose wisely. God Bless.
