We are Where We are now Because of Our Decisions–R Fritz
We cannot blame somebody else for where we are in our lives. It falls on us because it is our responsibility. We either do things or it does not get done. When we choose Jesus, we get help if we follow him. That is the relationship we can have with the Holy Spirit if we choose to, which is on us. Somehow, we think the Holy Spirit should automatically apply what we seek. The problem is the free will that was given to us. God gave free will to us so we would choose him or all the things we should such as clothes, where we work, if we go to college, all kinds of things. God could read our mind but that is not how he wants free will to work. We must speak or show what we want or need from God. God wanted us to choose him instead of making us love him and obey. Sin and Satan keep the truth from us as Satan lies to us to keep us from hearing God’s truth. People use their wisdom to keep doing the same things because they know better. That is why we stay in the same situation even though we do not like it. We either do not want to change or we have not heard of something that we feel will work for us. We must get pushed by circumstances beyond our control to change or look at other reasons to change. It is our thinking we know better when we are deceived into believing in ourselves. This is Satan’s game he is good at letting pride rise in us.
Pride started with Satan when he wanted to be God, His ignorance was his undoing because Lucifer (changed to Satan after he rebelled against God) was God’s anointed cherub (angel). Isaiah 14:12-14 says “How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.” When we think we are the best or think we can do it without God, pride has set in. It is us believing we are special without God is also our undoing. Pride is putting ourselves on a pedestal above everybody in our minds. Pride keeps God from us because God hates pride and reminds him of Lucifer. When we decide to change from arrogance to humility, we get God’s attention and when we decide to ask for help and pray that shows God, we are back to needing him.
We have learned we are not the “king of the hill” without God. Wisdom comes from God if we ask. Proverbs 11:2 says, “When pride cometh shame: but with the lowly (humble) is wisdom.” God’s wisdom puts us down the right path where we are partners with God. The Holy Spirit becomes our friend because we have begun to surrender our will. By surrendering we always have access to God’s wisdom. God sees what we are doing and where we want to go, we just need to ask the Holy Spirit for wisdom in having a relationship where the Holy Spirit gives us wisdom as we speak or as we work through the path God has for us. Every day can be an adventure if we trust the Holy Spirit, he is not going to send us down the wrong path if we follow where we are supposed to go. For me, that adventure every day is the excitement that I miss. That does not mean every day is perfect or has the right outcome as we must remember God is in control. Our faith is what God wants to see it is believing in him. James 1:5 says “If any lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth (without fault) not; and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For him, that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.” Without faith nothing is possible, and we are left to ourselves.
God gave some the ability to discern what is going on around us. It is the ability to see or recognize spiritual things. Not everyone was given that ability, but we can ask God for that ability and God would use us for his help. Our communication with the Holy Spirit is what gives us what we want or what we need. We all have the right to pray for anything as we pray, we are asking for help where God knows we are serious, and our heart becomes right. 1Corinthians 2:9-11 says “But as is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.” If we love God, he prepared things for us which are revealed through the Holy Spirit. We must be able to hear and understand what the Holy Spirit has for us.
We are the people we need to look in the mirror every morning because this is who makes all our decisions. If we want to change something we can do it because we are in charge. The question we need to ask ourselves is why? What am I afraid of or why do I not want to change? It comes to a point in our life to say, “What have I to lose.” It is called going for broke. We have a choice and a decision about what we are going to do with our lives. It is all up to us, choose wisely. God Bless.
