Is it not Our Duty to Help People when They Need Help—R Fritz
There are so many people out in the world around us that need help. They are struggling to get by in life. Some are just getting by day to day. Just living our lives, we see this every day. It might be where we work or on our way home from work. I find it so interesting how God puts two people together for his reason. A week ago, after going to my dentist, he did not tell me he was sending me to a specialist. The specialist called me telling me that they were going to evaluate my tooth. An appointment was made, kept, and after that appointment I went to a fast-food restaurant, went to drive-thru and drove around building and went inside the building instead, which I almost never do. As I was eating, I looked outside to see somebody I knew was coming into the restaurant. I said to the Holy Spirit “if you want me to talk to them have them sit over by me.” Five minutes later I see them going to sit down two booths away. I yelled at them to come over and sit down. It was many years since I had a chance to talk to them. I said to them “you know this a divine appointment” and they agreed. We had a conversation for a couple of hours. I do not know exactly why it happened yet other than catching up on life, but we can see how God makes appointments for us to meet other people, relationships he wants to grow.
God has a plan for each of us. We just need to go where we are led and wait for what God has planned for us. It is us trusting what we hear or where God is taking us waiting on God to put his plan together. Jeremiah 29:11 says “For I know the thoughts that I think towards you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.” We do not know where God chooses us to go when we leave our house. We leave to do the things we need to do, and God adds his plans to our to do list. We need to be open to what the Holy Spirit wants done as we are living our life. God has a plan, and it is us hearing and knowing the Holy Spirit and what we see happening before our eyes. That is seeking God and us finding him right in front of us in our life. As we see he wants to be a part of our life, not just myself but everybody. The Holy Spirit knows he can count on me. If we are committed, he will give us a mission. That mission will probably involve somebody else. I am amazed at how this happens.
God gets people together at a particular time, we can certainly have a hard time getting that done ourselves. We need to look where we are and the people around us and ask the question of the Holy Spirit if we are supposed to speak to somebody or supply somebody with their needs. Sometimes I just look at somebody and know when I am supposed to do something. That comes with us getting a better relationship with the Holy Spirit. Romans 8:26-28 says “Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities (weaknesses) for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.” The Holy Spirit knows our thoughts, what we are thinking and even when we do not know what we should do will intercede in our life, giving us what God wants for us. The Holy Spirit knows our weaknesses and can cover for us. When we are sent to speak to somebody, we are not on our own, the Holy Spirit is right beside us and gives us the words or how we are to help somebody whether we give money to people, give our time, or God’s wisdom.
We all have spiritual gifts or talents given by God to use in any situation. We have to believe we will be able to do whatever we need to do; it comes down to us having confidence in our abilities. It comes from the Holy Spirit putting us in situations where we are allowed to perform. There are times when I thought I failed on my mission because I was looking through my fleshly eyes and said that to God, who told me I did not fail with somebody calling me to tell me how God used me to change a situation. 1 Corinthians 12:12-14 says “For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also, is Christ. For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. For the body is not one member, but many.” We are all different parts of God’s body of believers because we were baptized into that body when we received the Holy Spirit. Just like a body has many parts we are all different being a part of God’s family. The Holy Spirit explained to me that some people are his mouth or mouthpiece, some his hands and some are his feet. In other words, God uses some of us to speak to people, some to use our hands to build or make things for people and some of us to help move or drive people to places. This is how we were gifted by God for us to be used for God’s glory.
It is us giving back to people that are not blessed with as much as we have. We look at these people and are reminded where we come from and where we are and who has helped us to get where we are. We need to give back to these people. Let’s be part of God’s body that voluntarily gives. God Bless.
