With God’s Help, We Will Overcome Our Past Failures—R Fritz

The question we need to look at is what we consider our failures. Are the failures we are looking at really failures or failures because of how we look at things now? As we look at our past, we judge it with different eyes or how we look at things now because of God’s wisdom and understanding we have now gained. Looking back, we would like to change things, I know I would, but our past is just that of our past. We cannot change that so let us leave the past in the past unless God wants us to deal with it. After I retired, I asked the Holy Spirit why I seemed angry. It required me to wait for the answer until I called a person from my past. Within a few days after hooking up with this person after ten years, I started getting pictures from my past in my mind over and over. I did not like the pictures and asked the Holy Spirit why I needed to keep seeing them, no answer was given. Remember we do not turn off God’s picture show in our mind. The picture showed me why I was angry. That brings me back to that person I returned to after ten years who God used to help me to overcome the results of my past. Sometimes God uses people to help us get to a point where we can deal with something where it gets down to the Holy Spirit and us. The anger was gone after dealing with my past, or when anger shows up, I now know how to deal with it. We need to trust the Holy Spirit no matter how we feel. Satan comes in like a roaring lion to steal us from trusting God. 1 Peter 5:8 says, “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeketh whom he may devour:” The devil, Satan is seeking to make our life miserable and take us down. The thoughts that we get from Satan are mixed up with the Holy Spirit’s thoughts. When we get thoughts, we must decide if those words started with God or if Satan has manipulated us into thinking and believing that our thoughts were right from God.

For us to differentiate we need to know God’s character versus Satan’s. The words I heard in the last couple of days were caught by me and I had to ask myself “what is God’s character” then believe God would do what is righteous. What happens in the middle of many words is to be able to separate thoughts and where they have come from. Satan is good at flooding thoughts where we are not able to separate thoughts then they become part of us and believed as truth. 2 Corinthians 10:4-5 says (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;” With the flooding of our mind with thoughts and using these verses we can stop or slow down those thoughts so we can digest our thoughts with the Holy Spirit helping us to discern those thoughts we need and to discard those that are from Satan.

This only happens if the Holy Spirit is our helper as we are surrendered where the Holy Spirit gives us the ability to discern thoughts. After a while we see things spiritually as we become one with the Holy Spirit.1 Corinthians 6:17,19-20 says “But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit. What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost, which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore, glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.”  We belong to God so knowing that should give us the understanding to know who we are. That understanding should make us think about who we will become because God is not going to fail. When we are on God’s time, he will give us the tools to succeed.

It was us that had failures because we chose to do things our way or we were in control. When we are all in with the Holy Spirit and not fighting what God wants us to do, we will be blessed, and we will see it. God does not hide his blessings and does not curse us. We curse ourselves through our words. Isaiah 55:11 says, “So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void (without fruit), but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.” This is God’s promise to us. We might not understand what we see in the Bible yet or the things happening around us, but God and his truth shall prosper. We can be a part of what God has set in motion if we choose, that comes with us for obeying what we are told through the Holy Spirit. After we have followed what the Holy Spirit has told us for a while our words and actions become one with the Holy Spirit. It requires us to give up control of ourselves with the benefits of blessings meaning more than one because we will prosper in all areas of our life, God’s fruit.

Even when we feel we are not qualified or think we cannot do something. The Holy Spirit has our back. We have these thoughts because they come from Satan because God says nothing is impossible with him. Matthew 19:26-27,29 says, and this is Jesus speaking But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, “With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.” Then he answered Peter and said unto them, Behold, we have forsaken all, and followed thee; what shall we have, therefore? “And everyone that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands for my name’s sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life.” If we give up something for Jesus, we shall be blessed hundred-fold and inherit eternal life.

Our past failures are our past, we should have learned from our past but that does not have to be our future. Our choice of Jesus is a start to change our future. If we keep moving closer to Jesus spiritually through the Holy Spirit, we will be blessed for obedience. We can move forward where we are. We just need to keep moving asking the Holy Spirit to show us the way. God Bless.
