We Need to Watch Out for People Around Us this Time of Year—R Fritz
When things are not going well in our life we tend to look down on ourselves. It is a blame issue that we have done all our life. We feel we cannot do anything right. That feeling is our thought process where we believe we cannot accomplish what we want. We have lost all hope. We forget or do not know about the Holy Spirit and are trying to do things by ourselves. We need to call out to God and get into the Bible. When we are down, we spend too much time thinking about ourselves. Those thoughts come from Satan, and we accept them. It is time to change our thinking to “I can do it”. It is an attitude change that will bring results. It is a process where we listen and trust the Holy Spirit instead of ourselves as we have in the past. Proverbs 26:11-12 says “As a dog returneth to his vomit, so a fool returneth to his folly. Seest thou a man wise in his own conceit? There is more hope of a fool than of him.” We go back to what we know because we do not want to make a mistake.
It is fear that stops us and not trusting in the Holy Spirit. It is being afraid to make a mistake, it is fearful even to try something different which stops our mind when the Holy Spirit is telling us something to change but we will not believe God’s truth. We have bought into agreeing with the same thoughts. It is being able to overcome fear. It is God’s truth that destroys the lies that fear brings. Fear is a lie that something is going to happen. It is projecting our past into our future. 1 John 4:16-18 says “And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love, and he dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him. Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world. There is no fear in love, but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.” Perfect love dwells in us through God who is love in the Holy Spirit which gives us the ability to cast out fear with boldness. We must have a relationship where the Holy Spirit gives the words and the boldness to cast out fear because fear does have torment, a feeling of knowing fear is present. I have felt the torment that goes with fear.
We will not believe in ourselves but will go back to our past even if is not good. Our future does not have to be like our past, it requires change. Change brings new things that we do not necessarily like, but we need to embrace them. We must believe we can do something, or we will not be able to do it. Faith is talked about in Hebrews 11:1,6 and says “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” Faith is walking down a road with hope, it is when our faith is stolen from us, we lose that hope which brings us back to where I started this blog not believing in anything.
Beating ourselves up with our past and remembering our sins when we should have forgotten them comes from Satan, Jesus forgot them because they are under the blood. 1 John 1:7 says “But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.” Satan wants us to remember our past and who we were then and tell us we have not changed. Satan says we are sinners and will never change. We remember those words and if we believe Jesus that thought is forgotten because our hearts have changed, and God’s love changes us.
Our future is bright because we chose Jesus. Our choices after that were directed by God. Our next step was to have a relationship with the Holy Spirit, which is to listen and obey what is asked of us, something we need to work on for the rest of our lives. I speak of the things that happen to me, things I go through so if we listen, we will have the opportunity to learn how the Holy Spirit directed me so all who hear this have some direction in our life. Those who choose Jesus are given tools to change their life, spiritual tools, and characteristics of Jesus that let us become who God meant us to be. It is the gift given that was free we just had to accept Jesus and repent (turn from) sin and turn to Jesus. It is the turn to Jesus we are not doing. It is us not asking or speaking to the Holy Spirit. Life is not perfect but whatever situation we are in, the answer is right in front of us, we just need to ask or be ready for what God has for us.
We need to look at our situation and although it does not look good, we have to remember who our Lord and Savior is. With God in our corner, everything is possible we must believe that, and it will happen. God Bless.
