We Need to Give Thanks for What we have and What God has Given Us—R Fritz

I am talking about where God has brought us from where we were to where we are now. We can look at the things we have but I would like to focus on the blessings we have received from when we decided to choose Jesus. In my case it changed my life considerably in all aspects. One of the areas was physically where pain was part of my life before Jesus and for a while after I first choose Jesus. I had a herniated disc in my back and first went to a chiropractor and after a month of that was referred to an orthopedic doctor who took a cat scan and said to me that I needed surgery. I told him there was not going to be surgery on me. I said my God would take care of it and walked out. A few weeks later I walked into a church, an evangelist told me I had a back problem, and he was going to heal me. Before I left that church my back felt better. What I found out later was the spiritual battle had happened after I left the church because Satan was not going to let me to be healed. Satan would try to take my belief that I was healed away from me, I would not give up on my belief. The longer I keep saying I was healed and started to believe it is when it solidified in my mind and my back has been good for over twenty years. God uses my back to show me I am carrying too big a load spiritually with other people’s problems which means I need to give them to him to carry. Matthew 11:28-30 says “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” We must learn we cannot help people ourselves; it requires us to take on a partner, a formidable partner the Holy Spirit to overtake our enemy Satan which we do not know very well.

We need to learn when it is time to ask for help then give the Holy Spirit the issues we are trying to deal with. We need to move on to other issues we can do with the Holy Spirit’s help. We learn about Satan as we go through things as the Holy Spirit teaches us about Satan’s ways. If we try to do things on our own, we do not know the spiritual things from Satan that are stopping us in our tracks. That same gift of healing is applied for me as I ask the Holy Spirit to deal with pain. I was told that was my gift for obedience as I am very thankful for that. That makes using my senses easier for spiritual things. We need to look at ourselves and all the things that we are blessed with, there are so many, especially the little things such in my case when I am in a hurry and the traffic lights are all green. I thank God immediately or in the wintertime when there is slush (sloppy wet snow to people who do not get snow) on the road and it looks like I may go in the ditch and my car straightens out. These are the ones the Holy Spirit is giving me. We believe we are the ones doing all these things or if it we have good luck. We need to find out where luck comes from, it is not from God nor does God have a hand in it. God blesses us and most people do not know it, he also speaks to us, and we do not know it, that is because we do not know God through the Holy Spirit. John 4:23-24 says “But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.” We need to worship God spiritually; we need to remember the Holy Spirit lives in us, so our thoughts become words that come together with the Holy Spirit.

This is important because an Eighty-five-year-old woman told me that God never spoke to her, and I told her “I am sure he has” and told her about “God speaks to us through our thoughts.” Six months later I talked to her, and she then said to me “God does speak to her.” People do not know how the Holy Spirit communicates. That is also the way Satan speaks to us except Satan does not know our thoughts like the Holy Spirit does. Satan uses us to show him what we think about through words we speak as well as our actions. I refuse to let Satan know what I think about, which does not let Satan to know my plans. Satan knows humans because he has been around for thousands of years. Satan likes to add words as we are speaking so we accept the words as ours and do not get to evaluate what we have said who also gets our feelings involved. Satan cannot overcome God’s love; he brings our past and what people have done against us to get even or remember the hurt, because our enemy knows us through familiar spirits that stay around us.

We need the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of truth who was sent to be our teacher and teach us all things when Jesus died to overcome sin and give us a path to eternal life. John 16:13 says and this is Jesus’ speaking “Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.” The Holy Spirit will guide us, we just need to ask. With the Holy Spirit’s help, God has given us the tools to overcome this world. We need to lean on the Holy Spirit for love, peace, and joy not ourselves. Be thankful for the small things given by God. God Bless.
