“Security in the Hands of God Almighty” – R. Nelson

BIBLE MEDITATION:
“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” Deuteronomy 31:6

ENCOURAGING WORD:

You are rich! Jesus Christ became the Son of Man that we might become sons of God. Grace through faith saves us because of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. That is not rhetoric, it is reality! A little boy was once talking about eternal security and said, referring to God, “I am held in His hand.” A cynic responded, “What if you slip through His fingers?” “Oh, I forgot to tell you,” the boy replied, “I am one of His fingers.”

The birth of Jesus Christ, along with all the suffering He had to endure and finally the death on the cross were all events that had to happen in order for the most important event of all, “The Resurrection!” For without the resurrection, Jesus would still be in His grave and the doors to heaven would not have been opened. We, who put our faith in Jesus Christ and the resurrection, would be men most miserable if it were not for His ascension into heaven. It is there that Jesus is at the right hand of the Father making intercession for us and watching over His sheep.  We are in His protective hands, where we read in John 6; 39: “And this is the will of Him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all those that the Father has given me, but raise them up at the last day.”

Back when we were little children, we felt a keen sense of security when we were with our parents. We felt that as long as our parents were nearby, nothing could harm us. That kind of security was not something that we had to develop over time, it was in us from the first day that we were born. Then, as we grew older and came into our own, most of us decided in our own ignorance that we didn’t need the security of our parents anymore, so we ventured out into the world not really having a clue what to expect. I don’t know if I just speak for myself or if others have felt this too, but growing up into my late teens and early twenties, even then, I never really felt very secure in my own ability to make the right choices in life. God knows I made my share of bad decisions. Even well into my thirties and forties I was still unsure of where my life was heading. Oh sure, I strutted around like I was in control, but underneath all that show for go, I was lost in a world of choices. I tell you all this because until I gave my life to Jesus Christ, I never really felt I was in control of where I was or even where I was going. But now when I wake up every day and die to myself as the Lord commands we should do, I feel extremely secure in His hands. Here is what we read in Ephesians 4:22-24; that, in reference to your former manner of life, you lay aside the old self, which is being corrupted in accordance with the lusts of deceit, and that you be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and put on the new self, which in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth.” Just as when we were born into the world and we felt the security of our parents, we can now feel that same security in Jesus Christ once we become born-again into His Holy Spirit. From the moment that you accept the provision that Jesus made for your sins; you are a new-born babe in the sight of God. Therefore, they call it being born-again. God refers to all believers as His children. You never hear Him refer to us as young adults or the elderly, always His children. We read this very interesting verse in Matthew 18:2-4 that says, “Then Jesus called a little child to Him, set him in the midst of them, (his disciples) and said, “Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.”  I believe that if we convert and become as little children, this could very well be a reference to being born-again. Luke 9:24-25, “For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will save it. What good is it for someone to gain the entire world, and yet lose or forfeit their very self?

We read inIsaiah 41:10; “fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” This is a message from the Word of God Himself, if we honestly believe the Word of God is true and inherent, then we must find extreme comfort in this verse. We read in John 10:28-29; perhaps two of the most comforting messages in the scriptures. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. “My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand.” Simply put, if you have been born-again into the Holy Spirit and have received Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, you are eternally secure in His hands. You cannot lose your salvation. If you could then this verse is not true. Once again, I believe that every word in the Bible is supernaturally engineered to mean exactly what it says and says exactly what it means. No need for interpretation, to me it is crystal clear. 1 Corinthians12:27 tells us, “Now you are the body of Christ, and members individually.”  Ask yourself this question, if we are part of the Body of Christ, which this verse clearly states we are, then how can we become dismembered from His Body. Just a thought for you to ponder as you work it out in your own mind how you feel about eternal security.

There are those who will argue the doctrine of eternal security, and in some cases they have a legitimate reason, but I take the verse above very literally and if I am reading it the way it is written, nobody can snatch me out of the hands of Jesus Christ once I am saved. There is no better security in this world than to have that promise from God Himself. When we come into this world as a newborn baby, can we become unborn? Obviously not. Then taking that same idea, once we become born-again into the Holy Spirit can we become unborn again? According to the verse above “no” would be the answer.

In this world in which we live, it is uncertain what a day will bring. If we listen to the news every day and absorb all the evil that is going on, our sense of security eventually fades away if it has not already! There are not too many places in this world where one can really feel secure and even then, no matter where you are you are not out of harm’s way. I believe people are running scared today not knowing what they should do. I can assure you that you will not find real comfort or security in any manmade drugs or medicines or anything else that is manmade, even with such things as bomb shelters and such. I think we would all be surprised if we knew how many people were on medication for either anxiety, depression, or some other form of mental illness because of the uncertainty in their lives. I am not a doctor by any sense of the word, but I do believe that all these mental illnesses start out with the mind running to and fro in total confusion of what they should do to overcome all the evil that is taking over our world. Let me assure you of one certainty, God is still in charge no matter what you may think, He has things well in His hands. Remember the song, “He’s got the world in His hands.” The world has been in His hands from the first day of creation and He will have the world in His hands until the last day of existence on this planet and all through eternity.

Paul the Apostle tells us in Philippians 4:6-7; “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” When you give your life to Jesus Christ you will have that peace that passes all human understanding. It is not something that can be given to you by anybody in any way, it can only be received by giving the Holy Spirit residency in your heart! I know that some people will read this blog and feel this is not for them, because of the way they lived their life, but let me assure you, Jesus Christ loves you just as much as He loves everybody, whether they are saved or not. We are all sinners, the only difference when it comes right down to it is this, those that trust in the Word of God and believe they can be saved, will be saved if they give their heart to Jesus Christ. It is indeed a matter of the heart! I can tell you with compete honestly that even though I have a good understanding of what lies ahead, I still feel very secure knowing that nothing can happen to me unless it is Father filtered, meaning it is God’s will. I find this perfect verse that I repeat often that is my number one memory verse because of the security that it brings. Romans 8:28; And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” If you own a Bible, open it up and read this verse at the beginning of each day. It truly does bring me a level of comfort that I would not otherwise have.

For those of you that may be searching for answers to questions let me suggest this, find somebody that claims to be a Christian and watch how he or she carries themselves on a daily basis. If they have truly given their life to Jesus Christ, you will notice a sense of security in everything that they do. Of course they will have bad days, but watch how they conduct themselves as they work through the issues of life. You will notice a dramatic difference in how they react to the everyday obstacles that we all face if they are true Christians. But keep this in mind also, Christians are not exempt from trials and occasionally a Christian may lose His cool, as we say. Christians are still human and have the same emotions that unbelievers have, it is just that we know who we can turn to when things get out of control. His name is Jesus Christ and He hears our prayers and deals with us according to His will. John 14: 13-14 gives us this promise, “And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in My name, I will do it. My friends, the ball is in your court…the next move is yours!

ACTION POINT:
We can be confident that we cannot slip through the hands of Jesus Christ! All who have put their faith in Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior are part of the Body of Christ which cannot be divided. If you have truly received Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, then you are eternally secure in Him. He went to the cross willingly, to suffer and die for your sins, so that you could be with Him throughout all eternity. What a wonderful gift, and the best part is this, all we must do is believe in the death and resurrection of Jesus and receive His gift of Grace. This does not give you a free license to sin, because if you truly receive Jesus as your Lord and Savior, your life will reflect your Love for Him. You should see your life slowly transform into the image of Christ in your everyday walk with Him. So, make that decision today, to put your life in the hands of He who created you in the first place. You will not regret it! Amidst all the materialism that sometimes chokes out the true Word of God, take some time to share this Good News with someone today. “Written To the glory of God, Inspired by the Holy Spirit.” Amen!

A Commentary from our Chaplin – R. Fritz

Security in the Hands of God Almighty

I believe as children growing up, they trust their parents for security reasons because that is all they know. We all had certain rules to live by under our parents. We were taught what things to do and what things we were not supposed to do, which had consequences if we did not obey. I think after living under our parent’s rules, we eventually start to feel we want to do it our way because we do not want to live under anybody’s rules anymore. We have all been there. If things go well, why do I need anybody else to tell us what we need to do? Most people probably were not taught at an early age about the reality of the devil as our enemy and the ways he entices us. We are not aware that our thoughts are not necessarily our own. We do not understand when speaking anything out, that whatever enters our heads may have consequences. We only see the things that happen around us. Remember, the devil is continually active in trying to manipulate us into doing things that are not right. 1 Peter 5:8 says “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.” People need to understand you cannot overcome issues that are spiritual without Gods help. The devil works in the spiritual realm. I learned the battles that I went through, I could not overcome without Jesus Christ. That is what happened to me.

I look at preconceived thoughts I had about Christians and how I thought about the rules Christian people lived by. Looking at it now, I cannot believe I accepted those thoughts, at that time I was no expert at being a Christian. The thoughts were definitely from the devil, every last thought was untrue. When things get so bad, it is then that you do not even care about your own thoughts. I decided to choose Jesus. Jesus Christ came to set us free giving us over six hundred rules in the Old Testament to live by. When I chose Jesus Christ and started reading and studying the bible on my own, it is then that I found out my thoughts were not necessarily my thoughts. That is when I realized “the devil is a “liar.”

When I found the truth and realized that with the Holy Spirit, I could win against the devil, I was all in. I found out I could believe God’s Word after reading it and studying and finally using it to overcome. I believe we have all been looking for freedom all our life. We went from trusting are parents, then ourselves and then if we choose Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, it is then that we inherited eternal security. We must first choose Jesus Christ. The Bible and the Holy Spirit are the tools that give us the ability to overcome “any” issue life throws at us whether it be mental, physical or any situation you get yourself into. Romans 8:26-27 says “Likewise the Spirit also helps our infirmities; for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself makes intercession for us with groaning’s which cannot be uttered. And he that searches the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.” The Holy Spirit is the “Life Changer.” Looking at your life, you have choices, it does not matter whether you believe you have been a bad person or not, that thought must be discarded, Jesus accepts people as they are.

In Conclusion – R. Nelson

I believe that throughout our whole lives, there is one thing that we all have in common, we all want to find some kind of security that we can fall back on when things go bad. I feel that most people spend their whole life in search of that special someone or something that they can truly feel comfortable with, but never really find it. Most everybody at one point in their lives finds a good friend that they feel will stand by them through thick and thin, and luckily, some people actually do find that person. “Praise the Lord if you have.” But so many people eventually end up feeling the cold hard steel of a knife sticking in their back from someone that they put their faith in. If you happen to be one of these people, then I have some great advice for you, actually the best advice that you will ever hear. Stop whatever you are doing and call out to Jesus Christ right now. He is just waiting for you to call out His name. What most people have a tough time accepting is that Jesus Christ is more real than those of us walking on the surface of this planet that we call earth. He is not some spirit that is floating around somewhere out in space, He is God, the same God that created you and knows what is best for you. He is waiting for you to turn to Him so that He can give you all that He created you to be. “He has saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace” (2 Timothy 1:9).Whether you’re in the midst of a crisis or just cruising along doing fine, there is no better time then the present to call out to the only force in this universe that you can truly trust and feel one hundred percent secure with, His name is Jesus Christ. We will all meet Jesus Christ one day, the question that you need to ask yourself is this, do you want to meet him as someone that you loved and trusted throughout your life or do you want to meet Him as one the that you rejected? The choice is yours; nobody can make that choice for you! I just pray that you make the right choice! “Written To the glory of God, Inspired by the Holy Spirit.” Amen!
