Are we Hearing from God or What we Think we Should be Doing—R Fritz

This is the question I would like everybody to think about and pray about. Too many people think they know God and what he would want us to do. I am going to say if we think we know him, we do not know him. I am speaking from over 20 years of study. Isaiah 55:8-9,11 says “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. For the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.” God is telling us his thoughts and ways are higher than ours. God’s word shall (that is a promise) accomplish what he intended it to do and prosper.

I am asking this question because this morning I asked God what I was going to write about this week. God told me to get the covid shot and write about his obedience in doing that. My first thought was I am not going to write about that. I also saw myself. I saw that because I was looking at myself and having to write about myself is something I do not like. That conversation with God bothered me. I was watching the television program “Touch by an Angel.” Tess the head angel was speaking to a group of people and saying “You are doing what you think God wants you to do, when we should be doing what God is telling you to do.

I have probably blown people away with what God told me. This was a message to me not you. He is not telling everybody out there to get the covid shot, just me. This was not a message about the covid shot or whether you get the shot or not. This was about obedience to God. I did not want to talk about myself, I love God so I will obey him. Romans 6:16 says “Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey, whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? I am going to ask, who are you and who is your master? We all started with sin being our master. Jesus Christ should be your master now. This means you should obey God no matter what we think.

We need to know we are talking to God and not a spirit. If we have the Holy Spirit, we know who is speaking to us. John 10:27-28 says, and this is Jesus, speaking “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.” Jesus says his followers know his voice and follow him. The Holy Spirit makes us one of his and the Holy Spirit makes us one with Jesus.

Genesis 22:1-18 tells the greatest story of obedience about Abraham and his son Isaac which God made an everlasting covenant with before his birth. God asked Abraham to take his son Isaac to a mountain in Moriah and offer him up as a burnt offering (sacrifice). Abraham took the wood, fire in his hand, and a knife. Isaac asked his dad Abraham where the lamb was for the burnt offering. Abraham tells Isaac God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering. When Abraham gets to the mountain, he built an altar, laid the wood, and bound his son Isaac on the wood. Verse 10-13,15-17 says “And Abraham stretched forth his hand and took the knife to slay his son. And the angel of the Lord called unto him out of heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham: and he said, here am I. And he said, lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now, I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me. And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son. And the angel of the Lord called unto Abraham out of heaven the second time, And said, By myself have I sworn, saith the Lord, for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son: That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies;” Abraham trusted God so much and obeyed that he would kill his only son. That is incredible. The short vision I saw a couple of hours after asking God what to write about was about Abraham and Isaac.

If God tells you to do something, he will take care of you and nothing will hurt you. If God gives you something to do, he is, or an angel is right there with you. Abraham was tested and we are tested to see if we trust God. We might not understand God has a plan. Just like Abraham, because of our obedience God gives a blessing. Blessings come because “we are obedient.” You might not see the angel, but they are there. Hebrews 1:13-14 says “But to which of the angels said he at any time, sit on my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool? Are they not all ministering spirits, for them who shall be heirs of salvation?”

Psalm 34:7 says, “The angel of the Lord encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.”  We are supposed to fear God. Fear of God is an absolute reverence or awe who he is, being a servant. Deuteronomy 10:12-13 says, “And now, Israel, what doth the Lord thy God require of thee, but to fear the Lord thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the Lord thy God with all thy heart and all thy soul, to keep the commandments of the Lord and his statutes, which I command thee this day for thy good?”

When God or the Holy Spirit speaks to you, that conversation is just for you. It might be information about somebody else or for somebody else, it is exclusively for you. Too many Christians are following what was said to somebody else or what they thought was from God. Christians are trying to live on somebody else’s knowledge. We are supposed to obey what God has told us. I have been told things I needed to tell a certain person. I need to obey and give that message to that person. I also tell that person to pray about what I told them. We are all different, where we came from, what we went through, our opinions, our knowledge, our God given Spiritual gifts. God does not speak to us the same way or in the same manner. We just need to get that personal relationship with him. God knows what it takes to change you or what it takes for you to get closer to him. It is on us to find God or change our relationship with him. God will reveal the things that are for you. I write what God reveals to me. I pray that God reveals the words and gives you hope to move you on in your life to find out more about the nature and God’s righteousness and how to change your life. God Bless.
