We Need to Honor our earthly Father as well as Our Spiritual Father—R Fritz
We may have issues with our earthly fathers, where we might not see eye to eye, where we are asked to forgive them for their shortcomings, and we may look at ourselves first, as that is what God’s word says. We might look at our shortcomings and the situation and then ask God to give us the ability to see all sides to any issue. Most fathers want their children to do better than them. To those that learned from their fathers, and it did not turn out good for us I am going to say we can change our children even though our childhood was not good. That only happens when we choose Jesus and find out his ways. Our ways were not good enough because we used our wisdom when we could become a new person. That changed person can become the best father because they were taught by our spiritual Father. Hebrews 12:5-9 says “And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him: For whom the Lord chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he received. If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not? But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons. Furthermore, we have had fathers of our flesh who corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live? For they verily for a few days chastened us after their pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness. Our spiritual Father knows what is best for us where our earthly Father has learned from his Father or read books.
Our spiritual Father knows what is best for each of us because we are all different in all that makes us special where what works for one does not for another of us. Treating us the same is a mistake because of our differences. Our hopes and dreams make us different from what drives us to succeed. Our past is not our future unless we want it to be. Does our childhood make a difference in our lives? My answer is yes. It did for me because fear was part of my life because of my childhood. I learned to overcome to become successful in my fleshly eyes. Fear is what was holding me back from what I could be. My life had to change. I had to walk through fear through the Holy Spirit, which took time where I did things like climbing a 14000 ft mountain, whitewater rafting, whitewater kayaking and riding the Olympic bobsled in the summer. They helped me to see how Satan used fear, and it was a lie for me because Satan tried to get involved in some of the events to stop me from completing the things I wanted to do. I John 4:16-18 says “And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love, and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him. Herein our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world. There is no fear in love, but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.” We overcome fear through the Holy Spirit who lives in us. God’s love that perfect love comes with the Holy Spirit. When we understand what we have we can overcome fear because it was the Holy Spirit that gave me the verses to stop fear immediately. After all, fear (torment) does have a feeling.
Our earthly father has a purpose where it was to bring us up under God’s rules to a point when the Holy Spirit would take over teaching us for the rest of our lives. That is not what happened in my life and not in many of our lives. It was because we grew up in a sinful world where we were not taught about the things of God, the deep things most people do not know. We were taught the simple things about who Jesus is and who is God. Until we start asking questions to people who know God and have the Holy Spirit where God’s truth is applied and we are changing our life to be able to help people with problems. What I see now is many people with many issues who are being used by Satan because they do not know the truth of Jesus Christ, so fear paralyzes them to do the right thing to change their situation. What I am saying is earthly fathers are trying to do the right thing with what they know as it may be not enough, but I am not condemning them because life can get hard for people. I was not a perfect dad, and I wish I could have started over with what I know now. We are all human and do not get a chance to redo what we have done in the past. It is moving forward with a better game plan from the Holy Spirit.
What our earthly Father cannot do for us; our heavenly or spiritual Father can. The question I want to ask people is when are we going to make the effort to have a relationship with our spiritual Father as we have with our earthly Father? Our spiritual Father is waiting on us to make that decision and then to start that conversation as we have with other people, which is what I did. I had to trust God even before I knew him as I was battling spirits. Jeremiah 29:11-13 says “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.” This is the recipe to get that relationship we always wanted with the Holy Spirit, our spiritual Father. Today is the day we should start to search for the Holy Spirit and search with all our hearts for which we will find him. Enjoy the day fathers! God Bless.
