When we see Somebody in Need, Love comes to Help—R Fritz
Who are we; the person to step up to help somebody we see in need of help or somebody who looks the other way and does nothing waiting for somebody else to do the work? We become lazy or our first thought is fear and stops us. Where is the commandment to love our neighbor as ourselves, it pertains to all of us? God is watching to see who will follow his lead. It seems to me people think they are saved and do not have to do anything for God, which means our heart has not changed and there are issues we need to look at. God’s love is different than man’s love. 1 John 4:16,18-21 says “And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him. There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love. We love him because he first loved us. If a man says, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he, that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen? And this commandment have we from him, that he who loveth God love his brother also.” That person we see and need something is our brother and not necessarily our flesh and blood. God’s love sees what needs to be done, the Holy Spirit is what changes our heart and is the force that gets us to surrender our will, until that happens, we are in control and not God.
About a week ago I was at a picnic where I saw a person with a walker not able to move too fast in a food line to eat. I took this person to the front of the line and filled their plate for them and then took them back to sit down to eat where I ate later. We see people who we can help with little effort that really appreciate the help as we do not even think about what we see. In my case it was the Holy Spirit that moved me without any thought. When our will is surrendered our thoughts from the Holy Spirit become automatic. It is the love of people that will push us to do the right thing, it is also respect because both behaviors go together. Doing the right thing should not be too hard if we think about what is right in more than ourselves or put other people first. It is just looking for those in need of help, there are many, then choosing to get involved in their life. This is the love Jesus showed those he saw. When Jesus saw somebody, he knew exactly what they needed as we help people to give God’s message of love as we make somebody’s life happy for them the only thing to change their life all day. Just by helping somebody we can show we care with our actions then show through our words to show why we do things for people through Jesus. People are looking for something to change their circumstances and become happy at least for a while because people are looking for peace then knowing things will be better. Philippians 4:6-9 says “Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Finally, Brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report, if there is any virtue, and if there is any praise, think about these things. Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do and the God of peace shall be with you.” We must trust the Lord and his peace shall be with us. We should do the things we have learned, heard, and seen where God’s peace will reside in us as the Holy Spirit.
Somebody had said to me “the meek shall inherit the earth” as the Holy Spirit has reminded me. As I heard that statement it made me think about what that meant. We first must see where it speaks of that which is in Matthew 5:5 and this is Jesus speaking “Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.” This is one of the Beatitudes where it talks about blessings and who will receive them. Meekness is not in this case a sign of weakness or being passive as we believe now, as meekness was different two thousand years ago. In Jesus’s time meekness was having a strong spirit that is under control by humility, a trust in God and a willingness to serve others. Being meek gives benefits in the future as an inheritance. When we look at what attributes Jesus had was love with meekness. Jesus wanted to show people who God was where truth, love and kindness was shown for people to be part of.
People want to be part of something they feel good about. God’s truth, learning who Jesus is and what the Holy Spirit will do for us as well as personally tell our stories what God has done for us gives other people to believe that there is something that can change the issues they are dealing with. When we get to truly know God and our faith is great, we will see miracles happen around us. It is God’s love that changes our perspective with our spiritual sight that gives us insight into what God has for us or his plan to each of us how special we really are. God Bless.
