If We do not Love our Brother, How can We Love God—R Fritz
This is a pretty simple concept which is in 1 John 4:20 which says, “If a man says, I love God and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he, that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?” If we cannot love people we can see and speak to every day, how can we love somebody we cannot see and do not know. We say we love God when we do not know him. We might know what God says, that does not mean that we know God. Speaking words to acknowledge God is meaningless if we do not mean it.
Jesus knew his true brothers and sisters were not necessarily his siblings. Matthew 12:46-50 says with Jesus, speaking “While he talked to the people, behold, his mother and his brethren stood without desiring to speak with him. Then one said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren stand without desiring to speak with thee. But he answered and said unto him that told him, Who is my mother? And who are my brethren? And he stretched forth his hand toward his disciples and said Behold my mother and my brethren! For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.” Jesus knows exactly that if people around him would obey the Father, he could trust them like family. Our words and then our actions show Jesus if we are with him and are following him with all our hearts.
The people in our life who do the will of the Father are also our family because we will be able to trust them. These are the people we know will do the right (righteous) thing and be with us when things that happen to us require family or close friends. These special people hear from God and ask God every day or when situations arise what should be done, and God responds to them. Yes, if we do God’s business first or as we are doing our business he considers us his brothers, sisters, and mothers. God is trying to draw us closer to him. What will it take for us to want to be closer to God? The Holy Spirit is either around us or lives inside of us. If we forget to engage in a conversation with the Holy Spirit or pray, how can we expect the Holy Spirit to answer us immediately? It always gets down to our relationship with God. God is not somebody who gives up and will send people to engage with us.
Every day where situations show up, I look at where God is involved. The how and why situations show up, and why situations put me in a place where there is a need for me to travel to take care of my business. The exact time puts me exactly in a place at a particular time to do my business but also to talk to or do what God wants to be done. I am amazed at the times I am doing my business where God has something planned where I meet somebody that after talking to this person, I see God has words for me to say or God wants me to listen to somebody and encourage them. About ten years ago I ordered a trailer about three hundred miles away. About halfway there I started to feel tired and pulled into a restaurant early in the morning where there were only two other people there. This person started talking about God to me which led to me speaking to this person and giving the message from God. I get amazed at how two people are put together at a particular time and miles away from each other. This proves God is in control. This should give every person who reads this assurance that God loves us. These people who are sent are our brothers and sisters.
A couple of days ago when the Holy Spirit revealed to me what I was writing about also revealed something that I needed to do. It was to look at what people have said to me over the years. What people say is not necessarily good but can be what they feel at the time. When we hear these things, we just blow them off and do not really pay attention to what is said. We might say it does not matter. Let me say this, our spirit and soul have heard these words whether we acknowledge them or not. In some cases, the words did exactly as they were intended and not for good, and in other cases, we might have misread what the words were intended. Words affect us and can change our life. We are responsible for every word we speak contrary to what people think. Mathew 12:36-37 says, and this is Jesus, speaking “But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words, thou shalt be condemned.” We will be judged by every word we have spoken. Our words have power and affect people every day. The good words that are said will push us to believe we can excel forward in our life and can give us a new outlook. The bad words take us down and we believe we cannot accomplish anything. In my case, I pushed these words back into my subconscious and did not deal with them. Now the Holy Spirit wants me to deal with these spoken words.
Our words show what is in our hearts because what is in our hearts will come out of our mouths. Loving our brother comes with a responsibility, which is responsible for our words and responsible for doing God’s will which makes us brothers, sisters, and mothers to Jesus Christ. God Bless.
