Patience is a Virtue We Need to Embrace—R Fritz

We do not want to wait for anything as we have become a society that does not want to wait for anything. Our time is precious as it always was fifty years ago. It is easier to accomplish many things compared to fifty years ago, but when things slow down at speed can cause mistakes, stress, and health issues. We are getting things done as there are consequences for working long hours because it requires taking time out of our life, time we cannot get back. I have done the same things with the Holy Spirit being my wisdom and as working those hours also at the same time spent that time with the Holy Spirit guiding my path with a spiritual walk at the same time doing God’s work. There are few people who had that opportunity then took it where the Holy Spirit wanted believing and trusting God. Walking through what I call crap, the hard issues where we sometimes must be patient and keep battling where the Holy Spirit gives us wisdom as we go. One thing we might not understand is the timing of what we want might take time for us or somebody else to do as we are going through life. The other thing we might not understand is that person who is supposed to bless us might not do what God wants them to do when God wants it done and we must wait until they decide to do what God wants. Does that make us angry? It should but we have to look at ourselves and the times we did not do what God wanted on his time. Most of the time we do not know how we affect other people spiritually. Maybe that will change people to move exactly when we are told to do something because it could be our answer. Habakkuk 2:1-3 says “I will stand upon my watch, and set me upon the tower, and will watch to see what he will say upon me, and what I shall answer when I am reproved. And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak and not lie though it tarry (be delayed), wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.” The vision that comes will change our life.

This is where our patience comes in where we ask the Holy Spirit for answers and we wait with patience. He knows exactly when we need things and will supply them. We need to let God know what we want and sometimes why. We expect our prayers to be answered immediately and when they are answered it is on God’s timing. The other thing that happens is our prayers are answered as we have not noticed they were answered in a way we did not see. We need to look at things spiritually instead of with our fleshy eyes as we have not learned to look in the spirit. That is because we have not chosen to change. That happens when we get closer to the Holy Spirit and ask questions, expecting answers to where they come from when we need them. I do not get answers immediately all the time sometimes they come where I am looking for an answer to something else in the Bible where I have forgotten about the question I have asked a few days or weeks ago and I see the answer as I am paging through the Bible. This is what patience looks like as one of the fruits of the Spirit. Galatians 5:22-25 says “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering (enduring or patient), gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance (self-control): against such there is no law. And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.”  These attributes follow those who have the Holy Spirit inside them and should show through their actions. Our flesh does not control us anymore as we hear the Holy Spirit and our thoughts and actions line up.

These attributes of the fruits of the Spirit should make us different and it comes down to how we think differently in different situations than people of the world. 1 Corinthians 3:18-21 says “Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wisdom in their own craftiness. And again, The Lord knoweth the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain (futile). Therefore, let no man glory in men. For all things are yours; Too many people use our wisdom, the same wisdom we had before we knew God, then the Holy Spirit came to be our teacher about God’s wisdom. Now we have a choice with a relationship with the Holy Spirit which many people do not grow into a Father, son, or daughter relationship. We need to learn after the issues we go through with the Holy Spirit to rely on and trust him. The Bible gives us information who God is and what he has done in the past because God does not lie and God is truth.

Life requires us to have patience; it is also from God. We need to learn about patience and with that comes wisdom as they go together. The fruits of the Spirit are a choice with whom we choose to be our master. Is it the Holy Spirit or is it to go back into the world and who we choose to fight our battles, the Holy Spirit or us? We choose and with that choice our life changes for the better. Isn’t that why we choose Jesus? Our belief is to have a better life and that is with Jesus no matter what we must go through. Learn as we go through life. God Bless.
