If We are Going to have a Great Life We have to Find Peace—R Fritz
God’s peace is different from man’s understanding of peace. We think peace is an absence of conflict but it is more than a state of inner tranquility. It is the state of wholeness and completeness. Jesus is our completer to make us like him. God’s peace is a fruit of the Spirit. It is not something we can create on our own. It is from the Holy Spirit. Galatians 5:22-23 says “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such, there is no law.” These are the characteristics of those that have the Holy Spirit. It starts with love and all these characteristics work together to make us like Jesus.
Satan wants to steal our peace. He wants us to be in constant turmoil and wants chaos in our life. The fruit of the Spirit is our tool to defeat Satan and to win the battles he engages us in. Satan uses our thoughts to confuse us about who we are and what we can do with the Holy Spirit. Satan’s tools that he uses through thoughts are lying where we believe what we hear from Satan as our thoughts and before we check our thoughts, we are speaking lies, untruths that we think are true. Satan is the father of lies. Fear is a lie in that we perceive bad things happening to somebody in the future. In other words, we worry and think about the possibility something bad could happen to our family members. I have done it myself now understanding how fear works I have learned to pray for these family members and believe God will take care of them. Worry or fear does not change the situation, it wastes our time and mental resources. Discouragement comes with our thoughts but also comes from the people around us who do not know what the Holy Spirit has told us. The lie is that the Holy Spirit says the same things to each person. The Holy Spirit has different words or actions for each person. People try to judge or control people by what they believe God wants them to do not what the Holy Spirit is telling them because they are not hearing from the Holy Spirit. When Satan cannot stop us with discouragement, he wants to attack our integrity. Our integrity is attacked because Satan wants us to compromise. Satan wants us to give up and give into his lies. It is always about lies because the Bible is the truth.
When we gave our life to Jesus, we expected a different outcome for our life. Satan thought he had us because we did not know we were living a life of sin and
Satan was feeding us lies, we thought we were living the perfect life. When we made our decision to change, Satan thought he could get us back to our old life and still keeps trying. Our authority comes from reading the Bible and God’s Word and from the Holy Spirit giving words as our actions are applied against Satan’s schemes. Most of the time do not see what happens in the spirit and cannot react. It is the closeness to the Holy Spirit and obeying God exactly as the Holy Spirit speaks to us that we overcome. Obedience to the Holy Spirit is the key to knowing and winning the battle you are in. If we do not listen and obey the Holy Spirit, he will let us do it our way just like we did before we knew Jesus. I know this because there were times I did not want to listen. When we think we know better and decide to not listen we will be fighting Satan ourselves.
Peace is what most people want to attain. If peace is the state of wholeness and completeness have we ever attained this? Is it possible we have only attained a partial sense of feeling peace because what is peace to one person is not to another person? Biblical peace can only be attained through the Holy Spirit. Isaiah 26:3-4 says “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee. Trust ye in the LORD forever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength:” This is the answer to perfect peace, keeping our mind on the Lord Jesus as long as we trust Jesus forever. God’s peace is the calm in the storm of life, when chaos and worry want to stop our life, we keep going.
This is where whatever our problems are we are praying and still see the bright side of what is going on and can still smile. It is the moving on with our life at the same time troubles hit us and we refuse to let them affect us and still have love and joy for those around us. Philippians 4:6-7,9 says “Be careful for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication (humbleness) with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.” We need a humble heart through prayer to follow Jesus through the Holy Spirit. We also need to remember and act on the things Jesus done and taught and his peace will be with us through the Holy Spirit. We forget that the peace we have been looking for is in us through the Holy Spirit
and we just have to enable it by speaking, praying, and following Jesus through the Holy Spirit. It is up to us to let the fruit of the Spirit control our lives and not our flesh. Peace be to those that are looking for peace. God Bless.
