Our Prayer Life Shows our Relationship with the Holy Spirit—R Fritz
How and when we pray shows our trust or belief in God. Most people were never taught or have never asked how or what to pray for. You might ask is there a special way to pray or ask God what our needs are. Normally no but if we are asking what to do or in a situation it is different. What I have found is if we are supposed to do something for God in speaking with trust to the Holy Spirit and saying “I will do whatever you ask, would you take care of my family.” Trust overtakes the ability of fear to come in and try to give us second thoughts and we put all our belief in God. Our only thoughts are on our mission the Holy Spirit has given to us.
There are some things learned by myself about prayers when asking the Holy Spirit what I should do. If we ask God “I believe I am supposed to do this and if that is not correct stop me from doing that.” This is how we keep God in control and if he is in control how can we not obey him? God is not going to let us go astray or get hurt if we ask and obey him. When we go down the wrong road is when we can get hurt or things happen. That is why it is so important to pray before, during and after things we are doing especially if we are doing things, we are unsure of. 1Thessalonians 5:16-18 says “Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” We might think that we can not pray and keep praying because of where we are or we think we do not have time. We can pray anywhere in any situation.
If we are in a battle or battling for somebody else, we do not have to get on our knees or go to a special place to pray when we are not at home. We can pray anytime, any place even as our boss is yelling at us, we can pray for him and the situation. I use to pray as I was walking down the aisles. Nobody can stop us because nobody knows we are praying. That is the most important thing people do not know, we have the power to change every situation we are in because we can pray without ceasing. This is what the Holy Spirit showed me. We should not have any excuses for not praying for somebody else or situations we get into. We can pray at home when we are sitting and relaxing or doing some of the chores we do at home. We have to change our thinking process and remember we can pray any time we are led to and stay focused on Jesus. Isaiah 26:3-4 says “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee: Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength:” To be focused is when we can overcome anything because the Holy Spirit will lead us what to do, we just have to follow.
We do not fight against flesh and blood. This is why we have to fight differently. It is a spiritual fight, fighting in the flesh means we loss. I found this out as soon as I chose Jesus. This was one of the first verses the Holy Spirit showed me. Ephesian 6:12 says “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” We do not fight people we fight the spirits who manipulate them. These people are manipulated to speak words for Satan. They might not even know they are doing that. We can fight them with words in the flesh but we will lose. The Holy Spirit lives in us and his words, scripture or prayer spoken by us will neutralize these words spoken through these people. In the end the battle is the Holy Spirit versus Satin which Jesus already won. We just need the battle to play out through us.
We need to put on our spiritual clothing every morning. This keeps us safe for our spiritual fight. We are probably asking ourself what I am talking about. Ephesians 6:11,13-18 says “Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles (schemes) of the devil. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.” We are being told to put on our spiritual clothing using the battle clothing of that time. Every morning we need to spiritually apply our battle uniform against spiritual wickedness from Satan. We need to look at the body parts Satan wants to attack and the tools we need to use to fight back. Satan and his minions know who has their spiritual battle clothes on and how to attack them. Before we leave our house in the morning we need to pray and apply the clothing ready for the battle. I have seen and felt the actual darts thrown at me by Satan.
When I chose Jesus over twenty years ago, I had spiritual battles right away. The battles that I had were spiritual where nobody could tell me how to fight other than say I needed to fight in the Spirit. They did not know how to fight in the Spirit because they had not done it. I was spiritually beat up from the battles I could not win. I first started to go to a Christian book store to get information as I was fighting these battles and got information as they were happening. One day God told me through a book that I needed to study the Bible to get my answers. Shortly after he put me with people with some spiritual information, then one day the Holy Spirit said he would teach me.
The teacher comes when the student is ready. I was ready to be taught and was schooled as the student who wanted to succeed. Remember if the Holy Spirit lives in us we do not need to speak our prayer out loud. Our thoughts through our prayers are spiritually relayed to God. He knows them immediately. That is why we do not need to speak them out as words. That is why we can pray any time we want without Satan knowing what we asked God for. There are some instances where we need to speak our prayers out and that is fine.
We have to understand the Holy Spirit makes us spiritual. Our battle ground is in the Spirit even though we might not see it until we can see it in the flesh. Be the good student the teacher will show up. God Bless.
