Time to Find our Prayer Closet–a Place to Get Personal with God—R Fritz
People wonder why they are not hearing from God through the Holy Spirit. I met with somebody who asked the question why their life has changed where they are not hearing the Holy Spirit like they have in the past. My question was are they asking the right questions? The right questions are to ask God why the change, what am I doing wrong or what am I to do to get God’s attention? We must get serious with our commitment to God. God knows our heart there is no hiding our feelings about God. What happened with the person I was talking to was after I started to ask these questions, an answer came to this person. How did I get the questions to ask? The Holy Spirit gives me the questions. It is us looking inward at ourselves. God is waiting on us to ask the right questions. God knows our thoughts; he is waiting on us. Jeremiah 29:11-13 says “For I know the thoughts that I think towards you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken (listen) unto you. And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart” The answer to find God is to search with all our heart. That means we need to seriously look and ask the questions to find the answers.
What we do not understand is the answers are within us as we need to look inward to check if there are issues within us, spiritual issues. We need to look as we ask the Holy Spirit if we are humble, or pride has entered us without us seeing it. As pride comes in, it hides and speaks for itself or shows up in our actions. The problem is pride was not seen because we are not looking at ourselves, we tend to look at other people thinking we are good. Jesus came to show us humility for that is what he is in love. 1 Peter 5:5-7 says “Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble. Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.” Every day we need to choose who we follow as well as ask the Holy Spirit if pride or some other spirit exists. Years ago, the Holy Spirit had a plan to get myself to remember to be humble. The plan was for me to never forget to be humble where the Holy Spirit would put me through situations over and over as I said to the Holy Spirit, “why am I going through the same situation and am I not humble enough.” God decided when I was humble enough where I would remember my lessons. It is also about asking the right questions about us, to learn about and to know ourselves so we know when something does not feel right and is out of place. It is called discernment where we see things spiritually.
We also need to know our enemy and be ready each day with the Holy Spirit’s help to spiritually see where our battles will be because our battles are against spirits. Ephesians 6:12-13 says “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.” Every day we need to put on the armor of God because the battle is real.Ephesians 6:14-18 goes into the tools we are given to defend the spiritual attack on us. We are in a spiritual battle where most of us are not prepared, nor do we know how to fight in the spirit. Putting on the armor is a defensive move on our part where various parts of our body are covered from attack. Fighting in the spirit is a subject that I will write about at another time. It is so important we know when we have been attacked where it will change our life if things happening in our life are known immediately.
We need the prayer closet or our place where we can spend time with God without being interrupted. I have that place and there are times I do not want to leave. To those people who do not have that place or know how special it is to be with the Holy Spirit where our thoughts are exchanged. It is where the Holy Spirit’s plans are discussed, where wisdom is learned before we need it. We have an opportunity to learn all things from those who are serious about finding and having a great life. Every day we choose who we will serve God, man through our thoughts, or follow the Spirit that will change our life forever. It is not a perfect life, and every day has its ups and downs. That is what happens when we live with people with free will. This is God’s plan where those that choose him will have eternal life, a time to really get to know him. The life we have now also has that opportunity with the Holy Spirit making life easier with giving our life to Jesus and not taking our life back where we are in control. Our choice is ours forever, choose eternal life. God Bless.
