Vacations are a Time to Relax as well as to Get to Know the Holy Spirit—R Fritz
We do not want to ask the Holy Spirit to be involved in our vacation. We think a vacation is everything and everybody at home we want to get away from. I used to think that way many years ago but found out we are not going to get away from God whether we want to or not. We made a commitment to God through the Holy Spirit when we chose Jesus to follow him as well as to live a holy life and to change from a sinner’s life. For some of us we forget about what we said or if our heart changed, when our heart changes from a stony heart to a heart of flesh. Ezekiel 36:26-27 says “A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.” The Holy Spirit will cause us to change to who God meant for us to be if we let him.
Vacations are us doing things we enjoy or things we cannot do during our normal life. I have so many times where the Holy Spirit was involved. I got back from a vacation this week where the Holy Spirit was involved before I left where a deer ran out in front of me, and I stopped where the deer was under my car, so I had to drive ahead to get out from the deer. The deer was dead but there was not a scratch on my car. I went to the body shop the next day and was told it was no damage. I knew God had a plan after the deer accident. It was to get the people that went with me to listen to me. It is up to God to take it from there, I did my part. One of the most eventful times happened six years ago when I was staying in a camper that had a defective propane heater. I woke up hearing my spirit talking to the Holy Spirit with my spirit telling the Holy Spirit that I wanted to retire, the other choice was dying from methane gas. We were still sick for four hours until we got rid of that gas we inhaled. The Holy Spirit gave me that choice with a lot of things not happening with me gone. That is why we need to have a relationship with the Holy Spirit as we see it is a matter of life or death. I have had numerous vacations where the Holy Spirit made sure I had fun with the Holy Spirit having his business taken care of while doing what I wanted to do.
The Holy Spirit knows what we need to do or how to change us to be more righteous and holy. Our change will give us the gift of reaching more people. Jesus died so the Holy Spirit could come and teach us all things. John 14:26-27 says, and this is Jesus, speaking “But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” We have a choice to embrace the Holy Spirit or listen to man. The Holy Spirit knows what we need, we just need to trust him. We trust men because we can see them, and we still have control over the result.
I can understand why people do not embrace the Holy Spirit for themselves but to not embrace it for our family is a different story. We do not want to make sure our family is taken care of by the Holy Spirit where spiritually he sees things coming before it gets there. That was one of the things I needed to ask the Holy Spirit because the things I do should not affect them. Most people do not know we can ask the Holy Spirit for that and any other thing we need to help us for God’s kingdom. Matthew 7:7-8 says and this is Jesus, speaking “Ask, and it shall be given to you; seek, and ye shall find, knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For everyone that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.” We must have faith when we ask, If we do not have faith it will not happen. Faith is what moves the spirit where the Bible is spiritually discerned and we pray.
We make the choice to embrace the Holy Spirit for our reason with our family getting the benefits from our decision and on our vacation looking out for us. For me, it was an easy decision. We all know what is at stake. God Bless.
