Everybody has Something to be Thankful for this Thanksgiving–R Fritz
Thanksgiving is a time to reflect on our lives and who we are. This is a time when we look at our goals or things we set aside and have done something for which we are thankful. I can think about one thing to be thankful for at least every hour. This week I had to deal with COVID-19. I am not thankful about that, but I learned some things about COVID-19. God has given me the ability to see things spiritually as I go along. The first thing I saw was that I felt drowning in my own fluids, up to my mouth which made me cough for the first day and a half, I could not stop coughing. It got me to the next morning as I spoke to the Holy Spirit saying something needed to change, within an hour my fever broke which helped, no more drowning in my fluid. My stomach muscles were sore from all the coughing. I spoke to the Holy Spirit that things needed to change for me again the next morning, as I felt better. It was for me to travel to pick up something to end COVID. Apostle Paul was given a thorn in the flesh which was from the messenger of Satan. 2 Corinthians 12:9-10 says with Jesus speaking and he said unto me, “My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness.” Most gladly therefore will I glory in my infirmities (weaknesses), that the power of Christ may rest upon me. That same power rests on us as we are given the Holy Spirit. We do not have to battle things by ourselves. One thing I learned about COVID was covid is a demon, that could make our nose run fluid at any time especially when we get to other people, it was automatic, it was so COVID-19 could cause people, to grow the covid demon. That was what the Holy Spirit wanted to show everybody so people would know about COVID-19 and how it operates.
I thought I could take some time off when I got a phone call from somebody I know, who wanted me to go to a gun show to buy a gun. As it turned out he could not go. I asked a question why he needed a gun now. He said somebody stole the other ones. I left the conversation at that. The next morning, I started to think about why this person needed this gun again. This person does not have a lot of money so it makes no sense why this person would want a gun now. This time the Holy Spirit revealed to me this person was thinking about suicide. One of the things that bothered me was if I was unable to deal with people. Is there anybody else out there to do what I do; The Holy Spirit has not answered me.
Let us all think about ourselves and what we are doing. Are we just looking only at ourselves if we are then we are breaking the second greatest commandment “Love your neighbor as yourself” Love is also an action word. God is love which means we do not know God. It also says I do not respect people. Think about the things I just said, all truth but not what people want to hear. Truth makes us think about what we do not want to think about. Some people call this their conscience, I call it the Holy Spirit. John 16:13 says and this is Jesus, speaking “Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you in all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.” The Holy Spirit is whispering in our ears and is trying to give us wisdom to help us make the right decision. It is the reason we can put what man says behind us or at least set it aside to hear the Holy Spirit and hear God’s truth. Sometimes we are not ready for the truth because we believe we know the truth. The Holy Spirit is feeding the truth to us all the time. The things I am saying I have been through. If we are looking for truth it is a lifelong adventure. What we believe is truth now is given more information at a different date to become God’s truth. We are given more information when we ask for it or look for it. Why would God give us something when we are not going to use it? The answer is he will not. He gives us information or things when we need them.
Being thankful is an attitude, something given and learned through God and the Holy Spirit. It is when we look at something although not necessarily good but can find some goodness to be thankful for. That is the thing about going through something, it is easy to be thankful for the little things. It is starting to look like we have a population that looks to themselves and cannot find things to be thankful for or even see how we can be a blessing to somebody else. It gets back to how we see life as we should be looking through the eyes of the Holy Spirit. Matthew 10:38-40 says, and this is Jesus, speaking “And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me. He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it. He that receiveth you receiveth me, and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me.” Taking our cross is more than making a choice it is our action that shows us following Jesus. If the Holy Spirit lives in us and we choose to become who the Holy Spirit wants us to be, we are a believer where the Holy Spirit gives us love plus all the attributes of God. We also can choose the Holy Spirit, or we choose to not obey him.
As we look at my week it was not good, but I am thankful I am still alive with an opportunity to have better days. God is in control and had a reason that I caught covid. We need to understand God had a reason for everything. Every day is a choice to live or die meaning if we choose life we choose Jesus and his ways and eternal life or we choose death and eternal death, the choice God gave us. Knowing I have eternal life makes me thankful I choose Jesus and do it every day. It is our choice now. God Bless.
