The Law of Liberty is Your Choice—R Fritz

What is the “law of liberty?” It is you making that decision about the Holy Spirit in your life. It is us allowing the Holy Spirit to be in control when we surrender our will each and every day. Romans 8:2 says “For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.” Those that chose Jesus Christ and received the Holy Spirit made that decision to remove us from the law of sin and death. We were under the law of sin and death until the Holy Spirit became part of us when we surrendered our will and that is liberty. Everybody seems to want that liberty but they cannot have it until the Holy Spirit comes alive in them. This is the truth that most people do not understand. It is the obeying of the Holy Spirit and that is us surrendering our will.

The law of sin and death was us having eternal death instead of eternal life. Sin kept us under that law and living in the flesh and living with sin and no hope. Sin was what separated Adam from God in the Garden of Eden and what separates us from God.  Jesus Christ paid the price for our sin, his life and resurrection, which made it possible for us to have eternal life. The Holy Spirit when indwelled in us is the answer to overcoming sin and death and being in the flesh. That was the old you and there is no reason to go back to that. We cannot overcome sin on our own. It takes the Holy Spirit in us that can overcome sin.

Despair, fear, shame, guilt, pride all have feelings and none of them feel good. There is a reason for that. God wanted you to know what was going on was not right.  For instance, fear has torment. 1 John 4:18 says “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.” I can personally say fear has torment I have felt it. Other words are anxiety, dread, worry. They all have feelings of torment. We just need to know God and have a relationship with him to overcome these feelings. This is not by accident it is a way for God to get your attention.

The answer is Love.”  This is God’s love “divine love” that is beyond our comprehension. We try to figure out God’s love with our intelligence or what we know or our experiences about love. It goes beyond that. Studying the Bible and asking the Holy Spirit is the way we truly find what God meant for love to be.  God is “Love” and through God, these feelings have been revealed to us.

This is where the Holy Spirit teaches you righteousness with your studying. You are

not taught until you ask for the knowledge. The Holy Spirit does not force anything on you. We have to grow in our relationship with the Holy Spirit just like with any person. The Holy Spirit knows everything about us. John 14:26 says and this is Jesus speaking But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.” The Holy Ghost is our teacher. As a student, we need to ask questions and study. Life has a way of beating us up and changing what is important in our life.

We listen to our feelings or how we feel to go through our day, we “love” good feelings, love, peace, joy, are a few. These feelings pick up your spirit. Things that happen to us change our outlook on life. We can go from happy to sad within seconds as to what happens. The Holy Spirit gives us the ability to deal with these ups and downs and our spirit is still able to have a happy outcome. This is not necessarily you. It is the mixture of the Holy Spirit and you coming together as one spirit and helping you deal with your day. John 14:27 says and this is Jesus speaking “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” Jesus is saying he has got us covered and giving us his peace, which is greater than we know or have felt.

Every day I surrender my will up to the Holy Spirit. I went to a Bible study a couple of months ago when somebody started talking about their childhood friend dying and really affecting them. Spiritually I felt the grief. A few minutes later I started having tears and could not stop for about a half-hour to an hour. It was not me wanting to have tears for about an hour. I could not stop no matter what I tried. Finally, the person who was speaking said to me “are you okay.” I said, “I am not in control of the tears.” At the time I did not know why the Holy Spirit had wanted tears from me. A month later as somebody was praying, the Holy Spirit revealed to me that my tears were for the person who was grieving. God had a reason for me and the tears. This is me surrendering my will and the Holy Spirit using my will and tears for his glory. This is what the Holy Spirit wanted to show everybody that reads this. This is the “Law of Liberty” where the Holy Spirit uses us for his glory. If the Holy Spirit is in control, you will do the right thing and have liberty.

If each of us who has the Holy Spirit will surrender to the Holy Spirit, we can change the world and change our life and our family life. Romans 8:6-8 says “For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.” The question I am going to ask you is, do you want to be a God Pleaser or a man-pleaser, we cannot be both. Our actions will show who we choose. God bless.
