Why We Should Judge Ourselves and ask God how We are Progressing—R Fritz
We should be looking at ourselves to see if we are following Jesus or are doing what Jesus has called us to do. Life wants to take our focus away from where it should be. Satan uses our mind to get us to put our focus on the issues we see as important, but they might be taking us farther away from Jesus. The mistakes we make we need to assess, change what we are doing and move on. Our assessment should look at if we are moving closer to Jesus Christ or moving away. I see too many people just keep on doing what they are doing and keep plowing ahead without assessing if they are moving forward or are falling back. Proverbs 4:25-27 says “Let thine eyes look right on and let thine eyelids look straight before thee. Ponder the path of thy feet and let all thy ways be established. Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil.” This speaks about keeping your eyes, hands, and feet straight and choosing your path, and not looking somewhere else because all of a sudden you could be walking down the wrong path.
It is interesting the world wants New Year the time to try to change themselves. We should assess ourselves when we see things not going well whether that is once a week or more. That requires you to ask the Holy Spirit if things are not going the way we want. We should be asking the Holy Spirit if we are doing the right thing or following Jesus. To have a relationship with Jesus is a spiritual relationship with our spirit and the Holy Spirit talking. It is our mind and spirit speaking with no words spoken aloud to the Holy Spirit. It is this relationship most people do not know about.
When you have surrendered to the Holy Spirit, it can use you in any way. I have been in meetings or Bible studies where I did not agree with things said or times, where words were spoken, made me angry. Being surrendered, I was not allowed to speak what I wanted to say because it might change or break up that meeting or study. I call it muzzling me. I do not like it sometimes, but it is me obeying the Holy Spirit with help. I do not speak about some of the things that the Holy Spirit does for me until a couple of days ago. I am going to write about them now.
The Holy Spirit gives me pictures at different times to tell me or show me what he wants me to do or speaks to me about things not to do. Thoughts that I have and are thinking about doing are sometimes immediately answered as I am not to do them. The Holy Spirit is your conscience but more than that, it is knowing God’s word and following his righteousness, being holy is your mentor. One thing I learned was a couple of times I did not like what the Holy Spirit was saying and tuned it out. You do not get a do-over because you did not want to hear the truth. I missed all of that message.
Because I have chosen to study God’s nature and find out the words that God uses such as righteousness, grace, holy I was blessed with more understanding. Most people do not investigate God themselves. They choose to read or listen to what men say especially people with titles or authored books instead of studying the one book with all the answers – the Bible with the Holy Spirit being the teacher. I call it being lazy but at one time I did the same thing not knowing the truth at that time. We are trying to learn from somebody else’s knowledge and experiences. We first need to find out if they are surrendered to the Holy Spirit. We are trying to live our lives with the prechewed manna from somebody versus the fresh manna from above and the Holy Spirit. John 6:31-33,35 says “Our fathers did eat manna in the desert; as it is written, He gave them bread from heaven to eat. Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not the bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven. For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world. And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.” Jesus says he is the manna, the bread of life. That is the manna I want!
We have choices to make but our relationship with Jesus and whether we choose to surrender our will is the one that will change “your” life. It is not meant to change anybody else’s life. It might change somebody down the road. We are talking about you. The person who is responsible for you. You might think I have a pretty mundane life. That could not be farther from the truth. I have been involved with people and trying to change their life and their issues. It is not easy sometimes because people do not want to change but God gives people an opportunity to have a better life and a chance to choose him.
Last week I saw how Satan was using the Bible or subjects like end times, the mark of the beast, rapture to get believers thinking and studying more about these subjects than the most important subject Jesus Christ and their relationship with
him. This is how Satan operates. He wants to take your focus off where it should be. You have to know your enemy and Satan’s goal to take you to the same place he is going. 2 Corinthians 2:11 says “Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices (crafty schemes).” We have to see the crafty schemes he is doing and that comes from the Holy Spirit. If you have that relationship the Holy Spirit will teach you when you need to know about these subjects. We tend to fall back and do what we think is important.
Let’s learn to check ourselves or have somebody else look at where we are going spiritually. It is our responsibility to have that relationship with Jesus Christ through the Holy Spirit. If we love God, we will obey him. It does not happen without searching for Jesus Christ through the scriptures and through the Holy Spirit. Do not let anybody or anything get between God and you and continue to study with the Holy Spirit being your Master. God Bless.
