Have we made a Contract or Commitment to God—R Fritz
As I have said a few times I am put through situations that bring me to write about what God wants people to think about or act. This time it has to do with a warranty contract I bought a few years back where they must pay now. The warranty company is now trying to find every way to not pay what the contract spells out. It is because the cost of replacement is more than what I paid for the warranty. I have spent a lot of time praying that this company do what is right. After waking up early in the morning I finally gave it to God, when I did, he took this issue and gave me peace and I slept a couple more hours. God is the only one to change somebody to do the right thing. He changes hearts with his love.
People might ask what contracts have to do with God. They have all to do with God. When we choose Jesus we gave our life to him, at least that is what I did. We agreed to that, and I know a lot of us do not remember or forget. We did that because our life was not going well, or we found somebody we could believe in. Covenants are what God used in the Bible which are principles agreed upon by at least two parties. These covenants are a part of the way God wanted us to be partners. God always kept his part of the covenant, man could not. That is why there were many covenants. Years ago, I made a covenant with God and myself, I keep my part and I know God has kept his part. That was an agreement or contract that was accepted by God. A contract or agreement that did not need an attorney to go over the language to make sure it was legal or to put in language so we cannot get out or no penalty for leaving. It was freely given by both parties. God does not require a signed contract. Our words were good enough for God. He believes in us and wants to give us the best, we just need to give our best to him, but we have a hard time doing that because we do not trust God. God is honorable, it is his character. Truthful and will not lie, knows all, omnipresent sees all. Sin kept us from keeping our part and the Holy Spirit is the only thing that can keep us honorable.
It is easy to trust somebody we can see as we talk to them. God on the other hand requires faith because we cannot see him. We start to believe in him when we see the things that he does in our life as well as other people. Mark 11:23-26 says and this is Jesus speaking “For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto the mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses. But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.” Jesus is saying if we believe without doubting in our heart, we can remove mountains out of our life speaking to them with our prayers. That also requires us to forgive those we have not forgiven, or God will not forgive us. That includes the most important person forgotten being ourselves because we forget to forgive ourselves, the one person that gets hurt the most. God wants us to forgive all, when we do that, that takes a load off from our shoulders and our relationship with the Holy Spirit can grow.
Our soul is what is important which there is a war against every day. We have a few adversaries we battle against every day, one being Satan the other being ourselves. The battle with Satan is understandable because he is our enemy from the beginning. The battle with ourselves should have us wondering about why I say that. It has to do with the flesh battling the spirit. Romans 8:9 says “But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.” We might have to say to ourselves God’s Spirit lives in us until we believe it. When we believe it, we will know why God will never leave us or forsake us, he is part of us. He is where we walk, stand or sleep. This is something we will battle all our life if we do not understand that point about the Holy Spirit living in us, but we are responsible for ourselves and our choices. It gets back to getting the Holy Spirit and without that we are destined for spiritual failure. The Holy Spirit guides us through when sin wants to take us in the wrong direction. The Holy Spirit was sent to teach us about God and teach us God’s ways which gives an opportunity to live a holy life where we can obey God. That was the one thing history should have taught us, sin ruled us where we could not obey God. The Holy Spirit and our surrender will come from knowing God is a Spirit. John 4:24 says and this is Jesus’ speaking “God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.” We need to know and understand God is a Spirit so how we communicate must be in the spirit, through our thoughts. The truth is the Bible where the Word is God. If the Holy Spirit lives in us, we become one as we surrender more of us. We are in control of our body; we cannot blame somebody else. The Holy Spirit with our blessing will help us, not control us and the Holy Spirit knows what is best for us.
When God saw sin consume man a covenant was needed to change us but every time we agreed, we broke it until Jesus came and we saw somebody we wanted to follow. When Jesus died everybody had the same opportunity to live a good life with God through the Holy Spirit where sin is does not control us. Our life always depends on us and who we follow. Trust God and the Holy Spirit. God Bless.
