We Need to Watch What Our Words Do to Other People—R Fritz

Our words will bless or curse whoever we aim them at. When we curse at somebody or speak about somebody our intent for them is spoken out where God knows whether we are trying to help them or speak contempt or gossip about them. This is when God through the Holy Spirit starts to speak to us and questions our motive. When we speak about somebody, do we have a motive? God knows our motives and intentions; we need to look at our heart and examine the roots of our actions. Proverbs 16:1-2 says “The preparations of the heart in man, and the answer of the tongue, is from the LORD. All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; but the LORD weigheth the spirits.” We need to look at our motive through the spirit where the Holy Spirit can speak to us with the truth and respond when we ask the Holy Spirit to check our heart with what is really behind our actions. We might think our ways are right, what we do not see is when our motives are hidden with pride being the spirit that speaks to us. We should look at what is happening spiritually. It requires us to look inward at ourselves which many refuse to do, is it that they do not want to know the truth?

Some people believe they can say whatever they want with no repercussions. God’s law is different where we will be judged for what we say. Matthew 12:34-36 says, and this is Jesus speaking “O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh. A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things. But I say unto you, that every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgement. For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.” When we speak evil, we have evil in our heart and the words we speak shall be evil. When we have love in our heart evil will not be spoken because love is in our heart. We will have an accounting of every word we speak and will be judged. That does not sound like we can speak words with no consequences; we are going to pay a price for what we say. People believe in man’s laws, believing they are good and right (man’s terms) when the only laws that count reside in the Bible that are righteous then transplanted into our heart when we receive the Holy Spirit.

We look through our fleshly eyes with man’s wisdom to get where we are. It is time to listen to the Holy Spirit. It looks like people are in too big a hurry to do things instead of listening for what God wants. The Holy Spirit speaks through our thoughts, so my question is “do we not have thoughts, or do we not know God’s voice or are we unsure or afraid of God? Let us think about that for a while, where do we fit and what we are going to do to change where we are to where we want to be. It will take change so what are we willing to change and are we going to ask the Holy Spirit to blaze a path for us to follow then walking down that path then dealing with what happens on that path? I have been down that path because it is not a road, it is narrow where most people will not go. Why? Because it requires trust of the Holy Spirit. Matthew 7:13-14 says with Jesus speaking “Enter ye at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in there at: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.”  That path or gate that I chose was narrow which will lead to eternal life which many will not choose because it is not easy, the wide path or gate is where everybody starts with and stays until people find there is another path or gate that is better which requires a decision and action to change. The path that leads to eternal life requires trust and a willingness to surrender our will.

Our willingness to speak about other people if not positive or without a spirit of help should be kept to ourselves. To love our neighbor as ourselves should be what we look at when we see somebody that needs help or does not do what we believe is right in our eyes. Our questions should be pointed at the Holy Spirit to ask if what we see is truth and what we should do in this situation. If I do not have a solution at this time, I might give what I believe is the answer when before I answer I let them know what has worked for me. The point I would like to make is many times what the Holy Spirit has given me does not always work for everybody else because we are all different. Speaking words that are negative can curse other people. Words are powerful in the spirit and after a while people believe and accept those words. People curse themselves with their words, sometimes called generational curses, where they have a disease or medical problem that has followed generations in their family tree. People claim what they see generation after generation where their words follow each generation. When we see the curse, it is time to pray against that curse as a repentance for sin or to remove words somebody carelessly spoke into existence from our family tree. I have done it in my family; it could be heart disease, bad back, diabetes. Proverbs 18:21says “Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.” Now we know the power of the tongue and our words. We curse ourselves as well as the people around us with our words, freedom with words has consequences and we will pay a price.

Learn from our mistakes, speak to the Holy Spirit to find out what is going on around us and speak only positive words or words to help somebody. We do not have to speak out the negative things we see, look for words to change the negative into something positive. The one thing today we can say is Happy Mother’s Day. Enjoy our mothers, who they are and what they have done for us. God Bless.
