Perception is Everything—R Fritz
How we see things is how we look at things, it could be personal. It could be the angle or what is in front of us. Perception’s definition from the dictionary is “apprehending by means of the senses or of the mind; cognition; understanding.” So, what or how we see can belong to us because we are all different. Perception can be altered by God or Satan. God knows what is best for us. On the other hand, Satan wants us to see things his way and can change how we see things, and we do not know this until we find the truth. I saw this over ten years ago but really did not understand what I saw until the last few months when the Holy Spirit gave me understanding of what I saw. Proverbs 2:6-7 says, “For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knoweth and understanding. He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler (shield) to them that walk uprightly.” We get wisdom and understanding at God’s time as we ask for it.
What I saw was that as I was walking up a trail to the top of a Fourteen-thousand-foot mountain was at about thirteen thousand feet when Satan told me I was not going up or down at the same time. What I saw was the terrain change drastically. This is where I told Satan to shut up; I was going to the top, and my perception of the terrain changed back to what it was. Satan lies to us all the time; we just need to know and catch him. Most of the time we know the words we hear do not line up with God. This is where we know that these are words from Satan, and we refuse and discard them and rebuke Satan. Words not dealt with become part of us and our life. We need to check ourselves for the words we speak and if our actions are righteous. We should do this every day so we do not get too far away from the narrow path we should be on. 2Corinthians 11:14 says, “And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.” We must be careful because Satan is going to make our life look good. After all, our perception looks that way without checking on if our words and actions are as they seem. If we do not check ourselves, slowly we turn away from God and do not even notice. Until we get close to and have a relationship with the Holy Spirit, we cannot see the words that Satan and his minions have given us, and we keep using them even as we have known Jesus for a while. That is because we have not become spiritual. When we start to become spiritual, we start to overcome our issues one by one, and we walk through these issues. This is how we know the Holy Spirit is helping us to win our battles. If we are still fighting these battles in the flesh, it will not happen until we embrace the Holy Spirit and follow and trust the Holy Spirit.
Our perception changes as our relationship with the Holy Spirit gets closer. That change happens because we have surrendered our will and let the Holy Spirit be our mouthpiece, and our thoughts are aligned with the Holy Spirit. We must trust the Holy Spirit more than ourselves, which is a definite change from what we are used to. I have got to a point where I trusted the Holy Spirit with my life because the Holy Spirit showed me that I could. This is what the Holy Spirit did after he said trust me. There were 4 experiences, all with me falling asleep while driving, one where I woke up as I pulled in a driveway and not knowing where I was. One where I was driving in the mountains and was behind the wheel for sixty miles and woke up two miles before I needed to get off the highway. To think about what could have happened is crazy that I am here to talk about it. Three out of four were after Bible studies where I was coming home from forty miles away late at night. The other one was a vacation I was on where the Holy Spirit also showed me a sign that said “Jesus Saves” held up for all that were with me to see. These situations were why I could say I can trust God with my life because Jesus was behind the wheel driving. I have seen many instances where circumstances were me looking like I would go in the ditch because of snow and ice, but everything changed for me when I called on Jesus to keep driving down the road unscathed. The more we walk through things in our life, the more we will see God at work and his answers. Psalm 34:4-7 says, “I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears. They looked unto him and were enlightened: and their faces were not ashamed. This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles. The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.” When In trouble or when we perceive we need immediate help, we can call out to the LORD. My expectation is the LORD will help immediately because I have seen it happen. We learn who the LORD is from our issues or our adventures we walk through.
Our perception of what is going on can be different than other people. When we are surrendered to the Holy Spirit, our perception will be what the truth is according to the Holy Spirit and what he wants us to see. Sometimes God’s timing is when we learn things, but the Holy Spirit came to teach us all things. John 14:26 says, and this is Jesus speaking: “But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.” We need to call out in a time of trouble, as our perception is everything to us. Our relationship with the Holy Spirit changes that perception when things count. Trust in the LORD. God Bless.
